Job Description:

We are looking for a Value Improvement Engineer (mainly as Engineering or Project Management), whose main function will be:
1. Provide support to project leaders, engineering and construction teams at the identification and implementation of cost (or schedule) reduction alternatives.
2. Benchmark design against historical performance, industry norms, and client’s standard designs to provide alternative design that meets but does not exceed customer requirements.
3. Facilitate value workshops and identify and qualify opportunities for process enhancement.
4. Manage communications or workshops with Clients (if required).
5. Prepare multi-discipline conceptual and definitive cost reduction proposals for Capital Projects with assistance from project technical disciplines.
6. Break down “silos”, improving communications and enabling individuals to contribute to a team solution.
7. Provide recommendations to be incorporated in corporate specifications and standards for future projects.
8. Translate the identified project scope and proposed alternatives into an estimate of capital expenditure costs for design, procurement, and construction.
9. Identify areas of uncertainty and apply appropriate allowances.
10. In coordination with the in-house department Estimation support team, collect actual and alternative cost performance. Condition and normalize data for future use by developing metrics and benchmarking information.
11. Keep abreast of significant developments in new techniques and materials by close review of technical literature, contacts with contractors, and attendance at professional and technical meetings.
12. Use of in-house procedure and Value Improvement database and ensure database is updated during the execution of the projects involved.
Skills/Qualifications:
1. Degree in engineering discipline.
2. 10-15 years of experience including at least 5 years devoted to petrochemical, refinery, chemical, or power generation projects as senior specialist or project engineer.
3. Advanced industry expertise and a proven ability to develop a deep understanding of industry trends and strategic opportunities.
4. Familiarity with construction practices, materials, and equipment.
5. Ability to work with project teams, build relationships with “internal” and external clients to work with international cultures; having international experience is preferable.
6. Proficient in English.
