JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking an experienced VAT Manager to join our International Tax team. This strategic role involves overseeing and optimizing VAT operations across multiple jurisdictions, with a primary focus on Europe (Germany, UK, Poland, France, and Spain) and extending to APAC regions, including South Africa, Nigeria, and Indonesia. The VAT Manager will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing VAT strategies, managing compliance, and identifying opportunities for VAT optimization.
YOUR ROLE :
Strategic VAT Management
* Develop VAT strategies and execute the approved strategy.
* Optimize VAT cash flow and ensure compliance with evolving global VAT regulations.
* Collaborate with finance, supply chain, and IT teams to streamline VAT reporting processes.
* Identify and drive VAT efficiencies possibilities across the sites and the countries.
VAT audits and dispute resolution
* Assistance VAT audits across the group.
* Manage communication with tax authorities to resolve disputes effectively.
* Review responses to tax authority queries, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Collaboration and knowledge sharing
* Act as the primary VAT advisor for the plants, providing guidance on VAT-related matters and proactively reducing reliance on external consultants to optimize costs.
* Support the business with customs-related questions as they arise, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and identifying potential efficiencies.
* Monitor legislative VAT changes and provide guidance on their impact to the business.
* Organize VAT training sessions to internal stakeholders.
* Partner with regional commercial and finance teams to support discussion related to commercial impact from a VAT standpoint.
* Act as an VAT subject matter expert for the General Managers and Heads of Sales on implications in VAT related to business transfers or start up.
* Provide proactive advice on VAT implications for cross functional projects (M&A transactions and European ERP implementation project).
VAT Compliance and reporting
* Oversee VAT compliance processes, including multi country stock holding inventory.
* Establish a central overview of VAT reporting across all jurisdictions, ensuring consistency and harmonization while maintaining local ownership and decentralized execution.
* Oversee and provide guidance on Intrastat reporting requirements, ensuring accurate and compliance submissions across relevant countries.
VAT risk identification and mitigation
* Identify potential VAT risks and develop mitigation measures to protect the company from exposure.
OTHER
* Be open to expand knowledge into other areas of tax, such as transfer pricing and direct tax, contributing to the overall success of the international tax team.
* Be able to visit to all locations on a reasonably regular basis.
* Successful development and implementation of VAT strategies, resulting in measurable cost savings and improved cash flow.
* Effective management of VAT audits with minimal financial impact on the business.
* Reduction of identified VAT risks through well-executed mitigation plans.
* Positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders on VAT guidance and collaboration.
