ABOUT THE ROLE
Pixalate is looking for a highly motivated Junior Economist to support our Chief Economist within the research team. Pixalate’s Ad Fraud and Compliance Research (AFAC) Team is composed of advertising industry experts, data scientists, economic researchers, and communications professionals whose mission is to create unique, high-quality data and insights that deliver differentiated value for global regulators, policymakers, consumers, and the advertising industry. Our research, recognized for its excellence, has been published by the Washington Post, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other reputable platforms.
In this role, you will analyze large datasets and derive insights to address complex business and economics problems in privacy, global data protection regulations, ad fraud, the advertising industry, and market intelligence. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support the Chief Economist in conducting economic research and analysis within the research team.
2. Collect and analyze data, and prepare research reports and presentations.
3. Collaborate in crafting visualizations, documenting methodologies, and effectively communicating research insights internally and externally, while maintaining privacy compliance.
4. Automate report generation for recurring requests using scripts.
5. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in privacy regulations and industry trends to inform the research team.
QUALIFICATION
1. BS in Economics, Finance, or Business.
2. 1+ years of professional experience solving complex business/economic problems using large datasets.
3. Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
4. Strong critical thinking and ability to generate intuitive conclusions from complex datasets, including identifying and interpreting patterns within data.
5. Basic to intermediate proficiency in at least one statistical software package (experience with R is a plus).
6. Solid understanding of basic probability, statistics, and econometrics.
7. Ability to work independently and solve complex problems with limited supervision.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a high attention to detail.
9. Preferred: Familiarity with online advertising, advertising fraud, and global privacy and data protection laws, with a focus on European privacy and data protection laws and regulations.
10. Preferred Qualification: Currently pursuing or holding an MS in Economics, Math, Statistics, or other quantitative fields.
11. Preferred Background: Demonstrated success in developing R scripts employing econometric methodologies or actively participating in empirical research leveraging econometric techniques.
