BSC-CNS, a leading research organization, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Junior Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reviewing contracts and/or agreements and a deep understanding of administrative law and intellectual property law. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly talented legal professional to gain experience and develop their skills in a dynamic and innovative environment. You will also work closely with other members of the legal team under the supervision of the General Counsel within the Management Department.
Key Duties
* Structure, draft and negotiate agreements for a wide variety of non-commercial partnerships, including grants, collaboration agreements, consortium agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. Review, draft and negotiate research contracts, master services agreements, framework agreements, and similar documents.
* Provide legal advice on administrative law, including grants, collaboration agreements, public procurement law, and science law.
* Offer legal counsel and guidance on intellectual property matters such as open source, data mining, artificial intelligence, trade secrets, academic and commercial licenses, as well as creative commons licenses.
* Draft internal guidelines, policies, and create procedures and process efficiencies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
* Advise different departments on legal queries as needed, including summarising and communicating legal concepts and helping assess different levels of legal risk.
* Conduct seminars and training on administrative and IP law.
* Advise on personal data and data sharing.
* Perform other legal tasks as requested by the General Counsel.
Requirements
* Education: Degree in Law
* Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a practicing lawyer in a similar role.
* Fluency in English, Spanish, and Catalan is essential (both speaking and writing).
* Excellent skills in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
* Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience: Prior in-house experience at a public scientific organization, research development organization, or technology industry is preferred. Public sector experience is also desirable.
* Competences: You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal personnel. You are very organized, accustomed to working at a fast pace and juggling many different tasks. You are able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. You are proactive, taking the initiative when needed. You enjoy operating independently but love being part of a collaborative team.
