Job Title: Cleanroom Process Engineer
Location: San Sebastian, Spain
About Us: Graphenea is based in San Sebastian and produces solid-state devices with graphene. We produce resistors, diodes and field-effect transistors; the applications of these devices range from biosensors to photodetectors and optical modulators. We are a combination of physicists, chemists, engineers, biologists and many more, building graphene-based electronic devices step by step. Our target is for graphene to be an enabler of other technologies which will impact and benefit society.
Position Summary: As part of the Fab Team, the Process Engineer will play a critical role in developing, optimizing, and scaling up cleanroom and semiconductor manufacturing processes, ensuring high quality and yield in graphene-based product lines. This role will involve close collaboration with Integration, Production, and Quality teams to enhance process reliability and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, optimize, and scale up semiconductor manufacturing processes within a cleanroom environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
2. Collaborate with Integration and Production teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process issues, contributing to continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
3. Monitor, document, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements in yield, efficiency, and product quality.
4. Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process Control Plans (PCPs) to ensure repeatability and reliability in production processes.
5. Manage equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting within the cleanroom to support optimal process performance.
6. Participate in new product development by supporting prototype manufacturing, scaling up production processes, and ensuring process compatibility.
7. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices in semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom protocols, recommending and implementing upgrades as needed.
Requirements:
1. Technical degree: Qualifications in Physics, Chemistry and Engineering are a plus.
2. Demonstrated experience in process development and optimization in production environments.
3. Statistical background: Quality improvement methodologies such as Design of Experiments (DOE) using Minitab or other statistical analysis software. Familiar with data analysis and SPC.
4. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex process issues and recommend solutions.
5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
6. Candidates must already hold a valid work permit for Spain or be an EU citizen, as Graphenea is not offering visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of semiconductor processing techniques, including photolithography, etching, thin-film deposition, and quality control methods.
2. Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or a similar high-tech environment, with hands-on experience in a cleanroom setting.
3. Experience working with graphene or other advanced materials is highly desirable.
