We are currently recruiting for a Data Governance Lead, reporting to the Governance Senior Manager, to develop, communicate, and drive the adoption of the data governance framework across all entities and regions in the Tunstall group.
This is an incredibly exciting time to join Tunstall as we embark on an exciting period of transformation where data will become a cornerstone for enhanced health and care capabilities that will better serve the needs of our millions of customers. You will be joining a recently created and growing global Information Security team within Tunstall and play a key part in how we manage security risks moving forward.
This role would be based at our Madrid office working on a hybrid basis. We are flexible on the number of days in the office and on location and would consider applications from people who can work at one of our other European offices (Malmo, Sweden or Manchester, UK).
What will you be doing in this role?
As our Data Governance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our mission to make data the cornerstone for enhanced health and care capabilities. You will be responsible for defining the data strategy from a data governance perspective, and develop and maintain Tunstall’s data governance framework so it supports the business strategy as well as security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
Communicating and socialising the data governance framework across all Tunstall regions, entities, and business areas to ensure a common understanding, alignment, and adoption is vital to the success of this role.
The Ideal candidate:
To be successful in this role you will have considerable experience in data-related roles within a complex, multinational organisation, with some proven experience within a data governance lead or similar position. You will be able to demonstrate success in previously building data governance frameworks and have a strong background in data analytics, data architecture, or similar. A good understanding of cybersecurity best practices and industry standards, as well as a deep understanding of EU and UK regulatory and compliance frameworks, including GDPR and others applicable to the Health & Care industry, is key.
With a naturally collaborative style, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an analytical mindset, you will be able to engage and influence stakeholders globally and be an effective people manager. In addition, you will be proactive, with a high attention to detail, taking ownership of tasks, able to solve problems effectively, and be tenacious in your approach to ensure completion of tasks and projects to time and of required quality.

Some of your key tasks will be…
1. Define the data strategy from a data governance perspective, for which deep understanding of the business current and target states, alongside the corporate strategy, is required.
2. Develop and maintain the data governance framework for Tunstall so it supports the business strategy as well as security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
3. Communicate and socialise the data governance framework across all regions, business units, and technology teams to ensure common understanding, alignment, and adoption.
4. Help business units and Technology teams to define plans and initiatives to transform the way they collect, store, and use data towards compliance with the framework and the business strategy.
5. Prepare and present to senior stakeholders reports on data governance compliance, quality metrics, value, and other key performance indicators.
6. Support business units and technology teams in defining and designing AI-related and data-driven initiatives so they follow the data governance framework.
7. Act as a subject matter expert and point of reference for data governance-related topics, including data security and privacy and the interplay with compliance and regulation.
8. Provide training, awareness, and guidance to Tunstall colleagues on data governance principles, policies, procedures, and best practices.
9. Conduct market research activities to identify products and solutions that can support in the implementation of the data governance framework, its processes, and requirements.
10. Lead pilots to test and select the right products and solutions to implement the data governance framework.
11. Keep a constant innovative, challenging, and constructive attitude towards continuous improvement.
Key skills and experience:
1. Considerable experience in data-related roles, and some proven demonstrable experience as a Data Governance Lead or similar.
2. Previous experience in building Data Governance Frameworks in complex, multinational organisations.
3. Strong technical background in data analytics, data architecture, or a similar role.
4. Good understanding of cybersecurity, best practices, and industry standards.
5. Deep understanding of EU and UK regulatory and compliance frameworks, including GDPR and others applicable to the Health & Care industry in the EU and UK.
6. Understanding of IoT industry, data volumes, and related challenges.
7. Ability to manage complexity and make decisions with limited information or under uncertainty.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Experience and confidence in being able to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
10. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, business, economics, or similar or equivalent experience.
11. You must be able to communicate effectively in English (ie CEFR C1).
Desirable skills and experience:
1. Good understanding of AI frameworks, Business Intelligence, and related fields.
2. Spanish or Swedish language skills.
