IRAM invites applications for TWO postdoctoral research positions at IRAM/Granada. The successful candidates are expected to invest 50% of the time on personal astronomical research and 50% to support science operation of the 30-meter telescope.
Duties
It is expected that one of the positions would be mainly focused in the operation of the continuum KID camera NIKA2 and the second one will be geared towards the operation of the heterodyne instruments, although it is envisaged that both candidates acquire expertise in the operation of both instruments. The candidates will join the Science Operations Group to provide assistance to visiting astronomers, to help in calibrating and reducing the incoming data, and to support the commissioning of new instrumentation. He/she will typically spend about one week per month at the observatory.
Qualifications
IRAM is seeking scientists with a PhD in physics/astronomy, with experience in millimeter/submillimeter/far-infrared astronomy and continuum cameras and/or heterodyne frontends.
Proficiency in development of scientific software (e.g. data pipelines) will be sought as a strong asset.
Proficiency in English is required. Spanish knowledge will be a strong asset. French language will be contemplated as a plus.
Candidates must have completed the PhD prior to beginning the position.
