We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with CCIE certification in Switching and extensive Wi-Fi experience. This role will focus on troubleshooting converged networks and resolving complex issues that have been escalated from other engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess advanced diagnostic skills, including expertise in reading and interpreting packet captures using tools like Wireshark, and have a strong background in switching, routing, and wireless technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Network Troubleshooting: Act as the lead troubleshooter for escalated network issues, leveraging deep expertise in converged networks including switching, routing, and Wi-Fi. Diagnose and resolve complex problems to ensure high network performance and reliability.
- Packet Capture Analysis: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as Wireshark to read, interpret, and analyze packet captures. Identify root causes of network issues, including packet loss, latency, misconfigurations, and security breaches.
- Escalation Management: Take ownership of problems escalated from other engineering teams, providing expert analysis and resolution. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address critical network incidents and prevent future occurrences.
- Wi-Fi Network Optimization: Troubleshoot and optimize enterprise-level Wi-Fi networks, addressing issues related to connectivity, interference, performance, and security. Implement best practices for Wi-Fi deployment and management to enhance user experience.
- Converged Network Support: Provide expert-level support for converged networks, including LAN, WAN, and wireless environments. Troubleshoot VoIP, video, and data traffic issues to maintain seamless communication across the network.
- Network Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor network performance using diagnostic tools and network management systems. Proactively identify potential issues and implement corrective actions to prevent service interruptions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of troubleshooting activities, including network configurations, diagnostic results, and resolution steps. Generate reports and recommendations based on findings to support network improvements.
- Mentorship and Technical Leadership: Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise in advanced troubleshooting techniques and best practices. Promote knowledge sharing within the team to enhance overall technical capabilities.
Requirements
- Certifications: CCIE in Switching and Routing is required. Additional certifications in Wi-Fi technologies are highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in network engineering with a strong focus on switching, routing, and Wi-Fi in complex, multi-vendor environments.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of Cisco switching and routing technologies (Catalyst, Nexus, etc.).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and optimizing Wi-Fi networks (Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus).
- Advanced skills in packet capture analysis using tools such as Wireshark, with the ability to interpret and resolve issues related to packet flows, latency, and security.
- Deep understanding of network protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLAN, and wireless standards (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax).
- Strong familiarity with network security protocols and tools, including RADIUS, 802.1x, and encryption standards.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently, with a focus on advanced diagnostics and packet-level analysis.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, providing support and guidance to peers and junior team members.
