‘OKU’ is derived from the Japanese spiritual and architectural concept meaning ‘inner space’. OKU Hotels is a boutique collection of soulfully-curated, laidback luxury hotels, created for the modern traveler. Meticulously designed sanctuaries are conceived with barefoot luxury, local connections and slow living at heart.
OKU Hotels is headquartered in London, with current properties operating in Ibiza and Kos, and a confirmed pipeline of hotels set to open in Turkey, Spain and the Maldives. OKU is targeting to own and/or operate a collection of over ten exquisite properties in new and captivating destinations worldwide, over the next five years.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE
1. Develop with the Executive Chef and update menus for restaurants and room service of the hotel.
2. Supervise the production and presentation of dishes to maintain consistency and OKU Hotel brand standards.
3. Lead and motivate the kitchen team, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
4. Control food costs, minimizing waste and maximizing profitability.
5. Oversee the selection and training of kitchen staff, ensuring their professional development.
6. Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations according to local and international standards.
7. Collaborate with the Food & Beverage team to improve culinary experiences and gastronomic events.
8. Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the supply of high-quality products.
9. Analyze culinary trends and competition to keep the gastronomic offering innovative and competitive.
10. Manage daily kitchen operations and resolve any service incidents.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
1. Passionate about hospitality and an enthusiastic demeanor, with a desire to represent the OKU philosophy in your professional environment.
2. Minimum 5-8 years of experience in similar positions in luxury hotels or high-end restaurants.
3. Academic background in gastronomy, culinary arts, or equivalent.
4. Knowledge of international cuisine, culinary trends, and advanced cooking techniques.
5. Leadership and management skills for multidisciplinary teams.
6. Excellent organizational, creative, and attention-to-detail skills.
7. Knowledge of cost management, budgeting, and inventory control.
8. Fluency in English and Spanish; additional languages are a plus.
9. Previous Pre-Opening experience is a plus.
