A. Main Purpose of the Role: Mars Renewable (MARS) is dedicated to the global Battery Storage Business, aiming to become a global leader in battery solution provision. Our team has established a track record of 2 GW of grid-connected renewable projects globally. The Mars Renewable Europe Project Development team is looking for a highly accomplished renewable energy business development leader to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong entrepreneur to advance their career to the next level. Reporting to the regional head of Europe project development, this position will work with cross-functional teams to deliver successful battery storage projects.
B. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Originate and manage C&I and utility scale Battery Storage/Solar plus Storage project development opportunities, overseeing site control, interconnection, and permitting processes.
2. Direct project development activities to reach Notice to Proceed (NTP) status by managing relationships with relevant stakeholders such as developers, authorities, land owners, grid operators, off takers, and advisors.
3. Lead deal structuring and commercial negotiations with developers for project acquisition or other partnership structures such as development services agreements or joint development agreements.
4. Coordinate the tasks and inputs of supporting functions such as Legal, Technical Solutions, Finance, and Project Delivery.
5. Coordinate financial modeling to assess project economics.
6. Prospect and contract suitable greenfield and brownfield sites.
7. Stay informed on market developments and industry policies/regulations to quickly identify business opportunities.
C. Requirements:
1. Track record of successfully negotiating and closing commercial transactions with Landlords, Developers, Utilities, Technical Advisors, Regulatory Agencies, and Offtakers.
2. BS degree required; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
3. Knowledge of the Solar/Storage industry, specific regional regulations, and market mechanisms.
4. The following experience is a plus: IPP project acquisition, community solar, national and regional grid analysis, multinational environment, legal, and full cycle development.
