Senior Underwriter - Spanish Market Facing (relocate to Ireland)

Our client is a leading global casualty and specialty risk insurer providing innovative risk solutions to clients and partners worldwide.
This is a senior role working closely with CUO to Develop The Company's Bond Surety offering across European markets with Spain of specific interest.
This role requires a deep understanding of these specific insurance lines, strong analytical and decision-making skills, and the ability to work independently and contribute to the team's success. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the company's underwriting strategy within this space.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyze complex financial statements and assess the creditworthiness of businesses seeking trade credit and surety coverage.
* Price risks appropriately, considering market conditions, industry trends, and individual risk profiles.
* Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and MGAs.
* Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends.
* Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks within the trade credit and surety market.
* Collaborate with other departments, including claims, actuarial, and sales, to ensure effective risk management and business growth.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other key stakeholders.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
* Mentor junior underwriters, sharing knowledge and expertise.
* Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field;
a Master's degree or relevant professional designations (e.G., ACII) are preferred.
* Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in trade credit and bond surety risks, with strong market connections.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* A second European language would be attractive - Spanish especially.
The exact salary will be made commensurate with experience, but expect a strong 6-figure package with excellent career prospects.
