We are seeking to appoint a CLIL and French Publisher based in our office in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid). You will play a pivotal role to define the annual CLIL & French publishing strategy and develop high quality publishing projects which generate growth for the division and the group, in accordance with the mission and values of OUP and always maintaining the highest ethical standards. We are looking for a leader with broad knowledge who can work comfortably across both segments.
Key responsibilities:
Design and plan winning publishing projects aligned with our product strategy and sales objectives.
Analyze competition products and business models to make strategic decisions for developing differentiated product propositions.
Create and develop high-performing publishing teams and foster a culture of efficiency, creativity, motivation, and engagement.
Continuously optimize the publishing process in terms of workflow simplification, cost efficiency, and time to market.
Ensure project delivery within budget and promote a cost control culture.
Work closely with the Languages Product Dept. to ensure the projects respond to market needs, and input into the definition of the marketing plan.
Identify, negotiate terms with and recruit: authors and external service providers and perform relevant mandatory due diligence tasks.
Foster relations with UK-based publishing departments (ELT and Education) and explore opportunities for collaboration to repurpose products to drive growth.
Work with the OUPE business development lead, to explore new market opportunities.
Ensure compliance with OUP’s Ethical Code of Conduct in all areas of the publishing activity.
Requirements:
University degree and teaching qualification
A comprehensive working knowledge of the CLIL and FLE markets in Spain across all segments
Proven experience in a similar role within educational publishing.
Strong strategic, commercial and financial acumen.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Insightful, comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, pro-active, collaborative and consultative.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in Spanish (minimum C1 level) and English (minimum C2 level).
