This is a fixed term opportunity for 18 months.
Why we need this role
The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team supports and facilitates the development of a robust ESG strategy, as well as ensuring that our sustainability activities go beyond just compliance. We want to deliver an industry leading ESG programme as well as raise awareness of all Colt employees. This role will support the business in delivering the ESG strategy and vision (in particular energy transition and energy efficiency decarbonisation activity); through leading workstream activity in collaboration with colleagues across the group as well as strengthening our customer value proposition.
What you will do
Typical tasks and responsibilities will include:
* Lead and further develop additional ESG workstreams to drive forward the decarbonisation strategy.
* Work with ESG Data Analyst and external consultants to develop metrics and dashboards which provide meaningful insights for all levels and functions.
* Align with O&E and energy teams to strengthen ESG understanding, drive the Scope 1 & 2 decarbonisation strategy and embed EU Taxonomy requirements.
* Partner with Ops & Engineering and Energy teams to drive renewable energy transition and energy efficiency activity and ensure we are on track to meet our Science-based Targets.
* Links with the ESG Executive to define and drive internal and external ESG communications requirements.
* Communicate with internal colleagues of all levels on progress against the Carbon Roadmaps and decarbonisation Strategy.
* Give advice and support to colleagues on all sustainability matters, recommend and develop policies that drive a greater understanding of sustainability to embed across the business.
* Partner and liaise with relevant external bodies to strengthen our approach and find mutually beneficial sustainability solutions (i.e. REBA, RE100, UNGC, IRENA).
* Stay abreast of industry changes and best practice approaches to energy transition and energy efficiency and translate into meaningful business action.
* Scope out innovative pilot projects to support Colt’s Environmental strategy and achievement of Science-Based Targets, including research, planning and implementation.
* Act as the link between the ESG team and Sales colleagues to drive the ESG value proposition for customers as well as assisting with ad hoc bid support requests.
What we're looking for
Skills & Experience:
* Prior working experience in the sustainability or energy field.
* Clear understanding of decarbonisation activities to drive change.
* Excellent communication skills and English business level, we want to bring the sustainability narrative to life.
* Collaborative approach to sometimes complex sustainability solutions.
* Strong understanding of the sustainability landscape with the ability to explain in a meaningful way to various stakeholder levels.
* Prior experience researching and writing reports and briefing notes accessible to a wide and varied audience.
* Leadership of workstreams across a global organisation.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Sustainability qualification is desirable.
* Previous experience in global function and business would be advantageous.
Education
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, human resources, or related field.
