The Business Analyst will provide strategic business analysis services to clients and other business partners as required, from the Capabilities Development (CapDev) team, reporting to the Head of Capabilities Planning (CapPlan). Working closely with subject matter experts, clients, and the other functions of the CapDev team to understand the challenges and opportunities, and work as a team to meet them.
The Business Analyst will be responsible for leading business analysis activities for their assigned projects, products, and processes from end-to-end, addressing operational, financial, and technological risks, while providing analysis and recommendations, and supporting the execution and implementation of solutions.
Responsibilities
Expertise
* Provide best practice enterprise business analysis services to both internal teams and clients, in subject areas that the analyst may not be familiar with, confidently partnering with subject matter experts to lead business analysis activities in the project from initiation to completion.
* Lead best practice analysis, design, documentation, and initiation of business as usual and project processes and workflows, including workshopping, creating and updating analysis documentation such as problem statements, functional and non-functional requirements, and business cases, facilitating discussions, prioritizing tasks, providing training, and managing customer and other stakeholder relationships.
* Support leadership team members and peers by collaborating with others, articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management and colleagues, identifying and initiating projects, driving the resolution of issues, and holding themselves accountable for results.
Implementation & Documentation
* Implement process improvements or re-engineering, including integrating new applications and processes with existing ones, and collaborating with internal stakeholders and clients to ensure systems and processes meet long-term business strategies.
* Elicit and produce required project analysis documentation, creating and maintaining documentation such as business cases, SWOT analysis, GAP analysis, problem statements, training materials, standard operating procedures, workflow diagrams, business requirements, user stories, future state proposals, UAT plans, test plans, and decks for decision making and facilitation purposes.
* Meet with the CapDev Development teams regularly to review deliverables and deadlines, document agreements and outcomes, and maintain accountability for business analysis deliverables.
Reporting & Communications
* Support and manage customer relationships and expectations for business analysis within CapDev and other functions by developing and maintaining a communication process to keep stakeholders and the CapDev team appraised of progress, risks, and results.
* Maintain current knowledge of customer needs and strategies, utilizing formal and informal written communication methods to communicate updates and findings.
* Understand and negotiate the needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders.
* Serve as a liaison between development, IT, planning, and business stakeholders to facilitate clear and effective communications between technical and non-technical teams.
Requirements
* Significant experience in business analysis, project management, or product management with a focus on software development and lifecycle management.
* Experience working with and leading teams utilizing the Agile-Scrum methodology.
* Full confidence in using business analysis frameworks and applying them in subject areas in which they have little or no experience.
* Worked in and ideally led cross-functional project teams.
* A good working knowledge of best practice business analysis, project, and product management techniques and processes.
* Led and worked on large and complex projects, spanning multiple stakeholder groups and disciplines.
* Provided executive support functions (reporting, ad-hoc analysis, business cases, project start-up).
* Managed multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize effectively.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to analyze complex processes and technical challenges to develop effective solutions.
* Solid understanding of IT systems, software development lifecycles, databases, and relevant technologies is crucial.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding and alignment.
* Proficiency in English at an intermediate to advanced level.
