Position Summary
As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department and monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with broader business objectives, selecting and developing effective managers and work teams, and managing own organization through reliable systems and processes.
Specific Job Summary
The dual role of Director of Engineering (Site + Regional) weighted as 80% Site and 20% Region, has overall multi-site, regional responsibility for tracking GSS engineering metrics, 3rd party assessments for facades, roofs, mechanicals, elevators, surface & structural parking areas, grounds and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. The position is also responsible for the tracking of water safety compliance, Water Intelligence data and overall resorts water safety compliance. The Director is accountable for annual engineering budgets and capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. This position provides a high level of property maintenance knowledge.
This position develops and implements strategies that will deliver products and services, which meet or exceed the needs and expectations of guests and employees while maximizing the financial performance. It is responsible for maintaining standards and regulatory requirements, hazardous waste disposal & tracking. Completing of Engineering Operations Audits and follow up required for all resorts. Annual training compliance also will be tracked per resort. Manages effectively the Capital Assets of resort properties, utilizing specific technical expertise and recognized practices, with duties to include: scheduling, design, cost management, value engineering, development of Procurement Consultant RFP’s/evaluation of proposals/selection and management of those teams, product development, bidding and price negotiation with vendors, purchasing, delivery and adherence to design/technical standards/Brand Standards, within budgetary and schedule constraint.
The position is expected to travel to resorts within the area of remit (EME), to fulfill taskforce Director of Engineering functions and emergency storm-related responsibilities. This regional position will fill in for property Director of Engineering, Area Directors of Engineering and Chief Engineer on a temporary basis as and when needed.

Specific Expected Contributions
Working with Resort Engineering Operations and Budgets
* Works with properties and corporate engineering leadership team, in conjunction with site General Managers, to determine how Engineering is performing against budget and highlights areas of concern to leadership.
* Ensures each resort physical plant(s) including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, chillers, cooling towers and electrical systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
* Assists with administration and service contracts to support property needs.
* Ensures site fire crew(s) have complete understanding of all procedures, equipment and alarms.
* Coaches and supports engineering leadership teams to effectively manage controllable expenses.
* Assists to manage and control heat, light and power and work with Energard to establish annual consumption goals for all utilities.
* Develops an engineering operating strategy that is aligned with the property/brand's business strategy.
* Participates in the development of Engineering budget(s) for all resorts.
* Ensures integration of departmental goals in game plans for all resorts.
* Oversees execution of long-term preventative maintenance and 10 year asset protection plans.
* Reviews financial reports and statements to determine how Engineering is performing against budget.
* Addresses potential areas of concern and proposing solutions to site engineering leadership teams in a proactive manner.
* Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results.
* Oversees reserves and capital projects to ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines.
Maintaining Engineering Standards
* Ensures compliance with local and regional OSHA safety regulations.
* Assists property life safety systems.
* Ensures building and equipment licenses, permits and certifications are current for pools & spas, elevators, emergency generators, boilers and pressure vessels.
* Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently.
Managing Profitability
* Assists all areas of Engineering operations to budget by reviewing operating statements, budget worksheets and payroll progress reports.
* Assists property teams manage the payroll function.
* Manages department's controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
* Participates in the regional development of resort(s) engineering department's capital expenditure goals.
* Participates in the budgeting process for areas of responsibility.
* Assists with resort(s) period end P&L critiques.
Conducting Human Resources Activities
* Assists resort engineering leadership to ensure that all employees are treated fairly and equitably.
