As a Network Engineer at Garnica, you'll be responsible for designing, standardizing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the local, wireless, and wide area networks of the company to ensure maximum uptime for users and the business. The role includes designing system configurations, documenting, managing installations, and maintaining/upgrading existing systems as necessary. You will also be expected to communicate fluently with vendors and suppliers and follow up with service managers to ensure they meet SLAs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Configuration Management
1. Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks.
2. Supporting the installation and configuration of network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP.
3. Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation.
4. Assisting with the selection of hardware standards & network design.
5. Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
6. Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases and reporting network status to key stakeholders.
7. Ensuring proper change management for network components.
8. Ensuring proper central management of every device on the network & services.
Technical and Functional Management of External Teams
1. Manage and coordinate the work of our suppliers, including negotiations and estimates.
2. Conduct follow-up meetings with external teams, defining tasks and priorities.
3. Manage the relationship between different business units and external providers.
4. Actively engage in projects within the Networking & Security area.
5. Provide technical support to projects that may impact the Network & Collaboration environment.
Other tasks related to Troubleshooting & Support, Documentation, Training & Awareness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Academic degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
2. Cisco network and Microsoft certifications would be a plus.
3. Spanish: Very good Business Spanish required.
4. English: Very good Business English required (excellent communication skills).
5. French: Desirable but not a must.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Minimum 3 years of solid technical hands-on experience with networking elements, protocols, routing, firewalling, VPN, security, etc.
2. Security mindset and experience.
3. Willingness to travel between plants is required.
