Job Title
Legal Counsel
Summary
Legal Counsel (Manager level) supporting the EMEA Travel Sellers distribution business, with special focus on the Western European region, and the Travel Distribution Strategy & Business Development team.
Key Responsibilities
EMEA Travel Distribution
This position will support the Amadeus EMEA Travel Distribution business with the following activities:
1. Drafting and negotiation of complex, high-value contracts with multinational EMEA travel seller customers and partners;
2. Drafting and negotiation of technology contracts with strategic partners and providers of IT solutions for travel sellers;
3. Providing legal support and advice to Amadeus Group companies and distribution partners in Western European markets.
Travel Distribution Strategy & Business Development
This position will support the Travel Distribution Strategy & Business Development team with the following activities:
1. Providing legal support and advice to the Strategy & Business Development team in incubating new ideas and business models and analysis of relevant regulatory environment, including anti-trust;
2. Providing legal support and advice to the Technology Partners team in building a rich ecosystem of technology solutions for the travel industry;
3. Drafting and negotiation of Amadeus API agreements with partners for the development of IT solutions that support the digitalization of our travel seller customers’ businesses and the personalization of the traveler experience;
4. Drafting and negotiation of referral and reseller agreements with partners for IT solutions that support the digitalization of our travel seller customers’ businesses and the personalization of the traveler experience;
5. Drafting and negotiation of technology contracts with new digital players and strategic partners to enable our travel seller customers to bring innovation and value creation to the traveler;
6. Act as the legal point of contact for the Amadeus Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) project for Technology Partners contracts. Support and advise on the contracts generated through the CLM Contract Management Tool.
General
1. Developing, implementing, training and overseeing Amadeus Group policies and procedures regarding commercial, legal and regulatory matters, with adaptation to local market needs;
2. Supporting the Amadeus Group Corporate Compliance team to strengthen the corporate governance of Amadeus Group companies and distribution partners in EMEA, with special focus on Western European markets;
3. Structuring transactions and analysis of relevant regulatory environment, including international sanctions, anti-trust and data protection;
4. Liaising with external counsel and procuring input and advice when supporting Amadeus’ business strategy;
5. Claims handling for allocated areas including pre-claim, ongoing management, settlement, arbitration and litigation;
6. Support the digital transformation of sales to service processes with focus on implementation and maintenance of a contract lifecycle management tools.
About the Ideal Candidate
1. University Degree in Law. Post-graduate studies in Law or MBA is an asset;
2. Minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience in a top tier international law firm or in the legal department of a global multinational company;
3. Specific knowledge: Contract and Corporate law. Knowledge of Information Technology law, Intellectual Property law, Competition law and Data Protection law would be a plus;
4. Basic understanding of the travel and distribution industry would be an asset, but is not a requirement;
5. English: Written and oral fluency required for negotiation, drafting and review of contracts and other legal documentation;
6. French: Written and oral fluency would be a strong asset, but is not a requirement;
7. German, Italian, Spanish, and/or other EMEA language skills are also an asset;
8. Tools: MS Office Suite: Advanced knowledge of Copilot, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint; eSignature Platform: Knowledge of DocuSign or similar eSignature platforms; Adobe Pro: Knowledge of Power Forms an asset; Contract Lifecycle Management Platforms: Knowledge of contract lifecycle management tools an asset.
