The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Backend Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the backend architecture of our applications, developing new features, and creating innovative services that drive our projects forward. You will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing existing systems, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards.
As a Backend Developer, you will play a key role in our development process, collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your contributions will directly impact our users, helping to create seamless and efficient digital experiences.
You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and frameworks, engage in meaningful problem-solving, and take ownership of projects from conception to deployment. Professional experience
Must Have
* You have at least 6 years of experience in the development of backend solutions
Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
* Java (Spring and plain)
* No-SQL databases (especially, mongoDB)
* You speak Spanish and/or Catalan
Education and training
* You hold a bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Languages
* You are fluent in English, as it is the working language of the group
Technical skills
* PostgreSQL. Database management experience is a major plus. Experience with MySQL database will also be considered
* Python
* REST APIs
* ETL tools
* DevOps tools
* Advanced Linux
* Git

The Offer – Working Conditions
* Contract duration: Long-term contract, linked to the duration of the project
* Weekly schedule: full-time with a hybrid schedule
* Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales
