Job Description:
* Seeking a Senior Data Center Technician who can drive the local execution of standardized workflows, triage unexpected anomalies and identify opportunities to scale as part of a DC Campus team. This person will work closely with the local Site Manager to mentor and grow the local team of Technicians, and communicate strategy, vision and feedback to the team and leadership. This technical expert is a resource for the team, a driven and motivated self-starter and able to work well with cross functional partner teams to improve processes.
Responsibilities:
* Technical Leadership: Drive the execution of standardized workflows within the data center, ensuring operational efficiency and minimal downtime. Serve as a technical point of contact for incidents, escalations, and retrofits.
* Team Management: Mentor and develop a team of data center shift technicians, fostering their growth and ensuring they can handle daily operations independently. Communicate strategy and vision from leadership to the team.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to scale operations and implement global standards and workflows locally. Drive process improvements and best practices in data center operations.
* Project Management: Manage server upgrades, integration, OS provisioning, rebuilds, and other projects as needed. Ensure compliance with deployment standards and safety protocols.
* Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to improve processes and maintain operational excellence. Contribute to documentation of global DC knowledge base and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Ideal Profile
* Advanced Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of server hardware components and systems, adept at conducting failure analysis and tracking server fleet health to ensure compliance with customer SLAs.
* Seasoned Experience: Over 8 years of hands-on experience as a data center technician, with proficiency in both Windows Server and Linux environments, including administration and real-time issue resolution during deployments.
* Leadership and Mentorship: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams of technicians, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment both locally and in geographically dispersed settings.
* Problem Solving and Analysis: Skilled in IPMI utilization for diagnostics, administering software tools for diagnostics, tests, and firmware updates, and conducting detailed failure analysis on field issues.
* Certifications and Technical Skills: CompTIA A+, Server+, CCENT certifications, and scripting proficiency (Powershell, Python, Bash) are highly desirable. Experience with network troubleshooting (Layer-1, Layer-2, Layer-3) and virtual machine setups is a plus.
* Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders safely, and wearing personal protective gear as needed. Able to stand and walk throughout data center facilities for extended periods while maintaining productivity.
