Position: Solution Architect, Data Cloud
The Data Cloud Solution Architect is responsible for defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision across the DataOne system in accordance with the overall Informatics technology strategy and principles to ensure it is fit for its intended purpose.
You will ensure that the system is designed to run as expected, has built-in observability, balances emergent design, and takes a system view across the full value stream.
DataOne is a self-service, highly automated, and scalable data cloud system that implements the entire data management value chain, empowering seamless collaboration and maximizing data potential.
You will work with product managers, product line leads, and business stakeholders to enable and guide the design and development of an integrated view of the business processes and associated business landscape for the purpose of identifying current and future opportunities for synergy, integration, and knowledge sharing.
You will align with enterprise architects and other solution architects to realize the vision of the domain and promote platform thinking, reusability, and interoperability.
You are responsible for working with the Agile Release Train (ART) to ensure delivery. You will provide the business with insights into key innovative technology trends and the evolution of technology within the vertical industry, which has the potential to accelerate the fulfillment of the business strategic vision.
Through the use of dashboards and governance boards, you will continuously communicate to the business an overview of the progress of current IT innovations.
Your Key Responsibilities:
1. Providing strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business (LOB) customers in defining or designing business processes, functions, and organizational structures, as well as using customer requirements in researching, identifying, and internally marketing enabling technologies.
2. Assessing the current state of solutions, defining future state needs, identifying gaps, and recommending new technology solutions and strategic business execution improvements.
3. Facilitating stakeholder sessions with personnel across all disciplines in the company to identify and define requirements, assess business processes, and evaluate technology solutions.
4. Conducting solution architecture research, PoCs, feasibility assessments, and facilitating solution application selections.
5. Formulating business and logical data and solution architectures comprised of software, network, hardware, and integration designs.
6. Conducting impact assessments and mitigation plans.
7. Working closely with Enterprise Architects on defining long-term architecture vision, integration patterns, and review of the technical portfolio.
8. Creating and owning the Solution Architecture documentation.
9. Developing IT Strategy & Roadmap consistent with the overall strategic needs of the business division.
Your Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, or a related study, or equivalent experience.
2. Previous professional IT experience with demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate plans into operational excellence.
3. Deep expertise & business knowledge in modern data patterns and platforms applied to Pharma, Biotech, Diagnostics, Big Data, or Information Industry.
4. Expert knowledge and experience applying data concepts like Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Data Lakehouse, from design to implementation.
5. Experience with the entire data lifecycle including information architecture, data architecture, data management, data integration, data ingestion, data security, data privacy, data governance, and data analytics.
6. Implementation expertise in major applications and platforms such as Snowflake and/or AWS data and analytics capabilities.
7. Proven track record of design experience using AWS services.
8. Hands-on experience with the design, development, and deployment of technology cloud infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience.
9. Expertise in multiple technology domains (networks, systems, databases, security, etc.).
10. Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
11. Remains evergreen and keeps up-to-date with technology trends and emerging technologies.
12. Demonstrated ability to develop and articulate a vision for one or more technology domains.
13. Proven experience creating architecture designs using a formal architecture framework methodology (TOGAF, Zachman).
