The Business Development Manager, reporting to the Head of Business Development, is responsible for identifying and generating new business opportunities, with the goal of converting them into contracts. This role also involves supporting negotiations with clients when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and develop new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients and converting leads into contracts
* Maintain ongoing engagement with potential clients through regular follow-ups and strategic communication
* Conduct meetings with clients, both in-person and remotely, showcasing service offerings and adapting to specific client needs
* Support negotiation processes when required to secure agreements aligned with company goals
* Stay up to date on market trends, including competitor activities and emerging opportunities, to enhance business development strategies
* Represent the company at international industry events, fostering relationships and expanding the client network
* Uphold company values by demonstrating teamwork, client focus, and a commitment to continuous improvement in quality, safety, and environmental standards
* Proactively identify and suggest efficiency improvements to support team objectives
* Report significant developments or challenges to direct management
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, Pharmacy, or related fields. A Master's or Ph.D. is highly valued
* Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
* Scientific and technical background with the ability to engage with clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors
* Minimum of one year of experience in sales or business development within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, preferably in the CDMO sector
* Experience in negotiation, sales, market analysis, and technology scouting
* Willingness to travel internationally and participate in industry events
* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment
* Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement
