Title: Innovation Business Development Manager

Job overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development and Innovation Manager (B2B) to join our Innovation and Technology transfer department. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business development activities, fostering innovation, managing strategic partnerships and contributing to the business strategy. This role involves international travel and requires a strong background in developing R&D project proposals, particularly those focused on proof-of-concept, go-to market and impact-driven initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
1. Identify and pursue new business opportunities that align with the department strategic goals.
2. Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners, academic institutions, entrepreneurial ecosystem and government agencies.
3. Lead and cooperate in the negotiation, elaboration and closing of commercial deals and to develop competitive project proposals from several financing mechanisms (public and private).
4. Monitor market trends and emerging innovations to identify potential areas for project collaboration.
5. Drive the sale of consulting services (B2B) focused on IP management, Technology transfer, exploitation of R&D results, entrepreneurship support activities and go-to market innovation projects development (training, execution and support services).
6. Maintain a high standard of documentation and reporting throughout the proposal development process and at services portfolio level.
7. Participate in the refinement of the business strategy and contribute to the commercialization of internal and external products and services providing strategic guidance.
8. Representation at international conferences, workshops and meetings to promote capacities, establish and maintain partnerships with international organizations.
9. Collaboration with several partners defining project goals and deliverables to ensure the alignment of innovation activities with the organizational goals.
Qualifications:
1. STEM BsC. PhD, MBA or RTTP certification will be considered advantageous.
2. Master Degree in Innovation Management, Technology Transfer or related field will be valuable.
3. R&D and entrepreneurs consulting services (Tech commercialization and licensing, Innovation strategies, Tech scouting, IP portfolios management, Investment analysis, Technological Surveillance and Competitive Intelligence).
4. Knowledge about public R&D&I tenders and programs (national and EU level: Proof of concept proposals, EIC, I3, Innovation Fund, EIE, EIT…) and private opportunities application for start ups. Familiarity with the regional innovation ecosystem is a plus.
5. Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English (C1 equivalent), additional languages will be advantageous.
6. Strong knowledge of the regional innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem is highly desirable.
7. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at several levels.
8. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a focus on innovation and impact. Ability to explain complex concepts to different audiences, creativity, services presentation design and project management skills.
9. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Proactive and responsible. Able to organize work within established deadlines. Teamwork and adaptability to multidisciplinary and multilanguage environments, as well as, working with tight deadlines and multi-tasking.
11. Travel availability and driving licence.
12. At least 3 years of experience in business development, innovation management of a related field, preferably within a non-profit organization, research institution or technology-based organization.
13. Proven experience in developing and managing R&D and innovation projects and proposal funding application.
14. Experience in the sale of consulting services and managing client relationships.
15. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
16. Experience in international collaboration and managing relationships with global partners.
17. Demonstrable ability to detect potential collaborations or establish networking between organizations.
