Hispasat, as part of the SpaceRISE consortium, is responsible for the technical implementation and ensuring the success of the IRIS² project, leveraging its extensive experience in satellite communications.
This collaboration is essential to provide secure and reliable high-performance communication solutions to the European Union and its member states.
To be part of this project, we are looking for a Payload Engineer whose responsibilities will be as follows:
Activities:
1. Support to the definition, design, development and oversight of a telecommunications satellite constellation program in the area of Repeater and Antennas (Payload).
2. Support to the definition, design and development of telecommunications systems based on satellite technology.
Responsibilities:
1. Participation in Satellite Mission Definition activities, system specification definition and contract negotiations.
2. Preparation and participation in payload unit, subsystem and system design, manufacturing and testing review meetings.
3. Follow up and review of payload design, development, manufacturing and testing at unit, subsystem and system levels.
4. Preparation and participation in satellite launch campaigns.
5. Preparation and participation in satellite In Orbit Test Campaigns.
6. Support to Payload on-orbit health status follow-on.
7. Preparation of weekly reports of activities.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Master's Degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar.
2. 10-year experience on a similar position with hands-on experience or exposure in either payload procurement, payload equipment manufacturing or payload in-orbit operations in GEO and/or LEO.
3. Experience in managing large EU and ESA projects.
4. Programming languages skills (Python, Matlab or similar).
5. Knowledge in geostationary and LEO communication payload architectures and functional operations, covering several of the following aspects:
* Expertise in RF and microwave engineering, including analog signal chain design, high-power amplification, frequency conversion, filtering and RF chain technologies.
* Strong competences in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) technology, active antenna, on-board digital processors, software-defined radio payloads and 5G standard.
* Constellation design.
* Optical equipment.
* Link budgets.
* Repeater RF performance measurement.
* Integration and testing: equipment, subsystem and system levels.
* In Orbit testing.
* Quality control essentials.
* Basic knowledge of satellite platform engineering principles.
Recommendable:
1. Highly collaborative individual, able to build relationships internally and externally across all levels and functions.
2. Capacity to deal with complex situations with assertiveness.
3. Native to an EU member state and willing to undergo an EU secret clearance process.
4. Fluency in English, both written and spoken; any other European language is considered as an asset.

Be able to provide 24/7 on-call support during satellite system and Payload/Platform testing.
