Position Description
The successful candidate will join the Chemours Corporate Government Affairs Team with a primary responsibility for supporting government affairs engagement in Mexico (and select other Latin American countries, as needed/appropriate).
The Manager will be tasked with monitoring and analyzing the political, legislative, and regulatory landscape at the federal and state levels of government to timely identify risks and opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key officials and policymakers, and developing and executing strategic advocacy initiatives to enhance the company's outcomes from government decisions.
The Manager will work closely with colleagues in the corporate GA team, other key function partners, and key personnel in the Chemours businesses to ensure alignment with business priorities and corporate goals.
The Manager will be responsible for leading engagements with trade associations, advocacy groups, and other relevant external stakeholders. As appropriate, the Manager will facilitate high-level meetings for Chemours executives and business leaders with key policymakers and other relevant stakeholders.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will:
* Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge about the political, economic, and social factors affecting public policy decision-making; how engagement with government officials can lead to the enactment of new or the modification of existing laws; pursue government R&D funding opportunities; encourage targeted government purchasing decisions; implement policies and take other governmental actions that are favorable to Chemours' business growth, operational resiliency, and corporate well-being.
* Develop and maintain relationships with federal and state government officials to provide advice and counsel in support of Chemours' public policy objectives.
* Monitor and analyze public policy processes and then develop and implement strategies and tactics for outreach, advocacy, and market positioning aimed at achieving competitive advantage or minimizing the negative impact of public policy decisions.
* Liaise with Chemours' Functions (Regulatory Affairs, Communications, Legal, Product Stewardship, Remediation, Sourcing, Tax, Human Resources, etc.) to ensure coordination and integration of the company's public policy agenda.
* Support/Lead Chemours' engagement in select trade associations and evaluate and lead engagement in industry coalitions.
* Interface with Chemours business leaders and senior management on key public policy matters and facilitate interactions by Chemours' business and functional representatives with key government officials.
* Effectively manage contract lobbyists, i.e., performance and legal compliance.
