Position Overview
We are looking for a results-driven Project Engineering Manager to join our team specializing in the chlor-alkali industry. This role is responsible for leading, coordinating, and executing engineering projects that enhance the operation and efficiency of our chlor-alkali plant. The ideal candidate will bring a robust engineering background, project management expertise, and in-depth knowledge of chlor-alkali processes, equipment, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring compliance with scope, timelines, budget constraints, and safety regulations.
* Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets, track progress, generate reports, and adjust strategies as needed to achieve objectives.
* Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate project viability and align with strategic goals.
* Collaborate with departments such as operations, maintenance, and procurement to meet project requirements.
* Optimize and enhance chlor-alkali production processes, including chlorine, caustic soda, hydrogen, bleach, and hydrochloric acid manufacturing.
* Assess and implement improvements to plant processes to boost efficiency, ensure safety, and maintain environmental compliance.
* Identify and execute cost-reduction strategies, energy savings initiatives, and reliability improvements.
* Provide technical support to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve engineering-related issues within the facility.
* Review and approve design specifications, technical drawings, and documentation for plant upgrades and new projects.
* Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental regulations, and industry best practices in all engineering operations.
* Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans for engineering projects and plant operations.
* Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement efforts.
* Manage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
* Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Qualifications
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical, Process, or Mechanical).
* A Master’s degree is a plus.
* Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.).
Experience & Technical Skills:
* Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing and at least 5 years in chemical engineering, with a focus on chlor-alkali processing or similar chemical industries.
* 5+ years of experience in project management.
* In-depth understanding of chlor-alkali production, including electrolysis, cell room operations, and core engineering principles.
* Proven ability to manage cost estimation, scheduling, and resource allocation for projects.
* Strong history of delivering projects on time and within budget, with a focus on plant improvement initiatives.
* Knowledge of process control systems, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
* Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, Aspen Plus, or similar process simulation tools).
* Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in team-oriented environments.
Qualifications
* Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations in the chlor-alkali industry.
* Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.).
