Job Responsibilities
As a Business Development Specialist, you will play a crucial role in gaining new clients and expanding existing business relationships in line with Rhenus Air & Ocean's growth strategy. Your responsibilities will include:
* Winning, retaining, and developing customers through proactive sales appointments and 'hunting' strategies.
* Assessing prospective accounts for profitable bids and opportunities.
* BUILDING rapport and trust by understanding customer needs and market dynamics.
* Collaborating with Product teams, sales channels, and Station Management to retain customers.
* Increasing gross profit and market share by fostering relationships with new customers.
* Conducting rigorous follow-ups on offers, client development, and shipment losses.
* Performing ongoing customer and key account analysis.
* Executing strategic sales aligned with company growth plans and exceeding targets.
* Reporting all sales activities in the CRM system per SOP guidelines.
* Recommending customer-focused solutions using industry knowledge.
* Identifying opportunities and managing risks to protect company interests.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* A minimum of 1-3 years of field sales experience in freight forwarding or two years of operational experience.
* A good working knowledge of freight forwarding services, including ocean and air freight, import and export, consolidation, etc.
* Demonstrated competence in conflict management, decision-making, and strategic planning.
* A strong hunter mentality, good communication and interpersonal skills, and outstanding negotiation skills.
* The ability to think outside the box (entrepreneurial mindset).
* A strong work ethic and integrity.
* A willingness to travel.
* Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
