Leveraging advanced miniaturization and mass production techniques, FOSSA has launched 20 satellites and is actively deploying a groundbreaking satellite constellation to deliver cost-effective, cutting-edge connectivity solutions.With headquarters in Madrid and an R&D center in Lisbon, FOSSA Systems is at the forefront of innovation in satellite manufacturing, operations, and IoT connectivity.Who are we looking for?We are actively looking for a Telecommunications Engineer or a related professional to contribute to the development of our internal RF design, SDR integration and architecture, as well as support our testing capabilities.In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in all stages of the development cycle for our internal communications systems, spanning the ground, space, and user segments.Responsibilities: Define and dimension new satellite and ground station applications with a focus on SDR technology.Design digital communication systems using SDR platforms and FPGAs.Develop and enhance custom space-tailored radio platforms and RF PCBs.Contribute to system architecture and optimize communication protocols for satellite applications by implementing various modulation schemes and forward error correction (FEC) techniques.Definition and dimensioning satellite communications and ground station applications focus on technology SDR.Assemble, test, and validate RF PCBs and components for space environments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.Design and execute testing plans to validate the performance and reliability of RF components, systems, and subsystems.Work closely with engineers from other departments to achieve effective systems integration.Report tasks to the Telecommunications Department Lead.Profile:Telecommunications Engineer degree or similar.2 or 3 years of minimum related experience. (Development of related personal projects will be considered as experience).Experience with SDR-based communication system design, including waveform development and signal processing.Experience in modulation techniques (e.g., BPSK, QPSK, 8PSK, QAM, OFDM).Knowledge of FEC techniques (e.g., Convolutional Coding, Turbo Codes, LDPC).Experience with SDR platforms (e.g., USRP, PlutoSDR, LimeSDR) and software frameworks such as GNU Radio, MATLAB Simulink, or VHDL/Verilog for FPGA-based SDR.Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers.Full professional proficiency in English.Preferably:Educational master level.Demonstrable interest in the space sector.Experience in integrating SDR technology into complex systems, ensuring interoperability and optimized performance.Experience in RF PCB design and simulation tools.Knowledge of IoT protocols (LoRa, NB-IoT) and satellite communication systems.Link Budget analysis of different modulation and FEC schemes.Familiarity with ground station systems and antennas.Experience soldering THT/SMD components.Why FOSSA?Be part of a pioneering company transforming the satellite IoT connectivity landscape.Work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced, innovative environment.Flexible working arrangements with a strong focus on work-life balance.
