Offer Description
* The Oncogenes and Effector Target (OnTarget) group is looking for a postdoctoral scientist with a strong computational background.
The position will entail:
* Analysis of in-house and publicly available single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data, exploration of conventional RNAseq, proteomics, and whole exome sequencing data in the context of our own experimental and clinical samples and/or published data sets.
His/her work will contribute to the current research lines of the project aimed to understand the underlying mechanisms involved in mutant KRAS-driven oncogenesis around two unresolved aspects of KRAS biology:
1. The identification of key transcriptional and functional mediators of cancer initiation and progression.
2. The discovery of novel therapeutic approaches and the characterization of resistance mechanisms.
The work builds on previous studies by the group: (Macaya et al, Nat Comms 2023; Entrialgo-Cadierno et al, Mol Cancer 2023; Erice et al, Clin Cancer Res 2023; Vallejo et al, J Hepatology 2021; Valencia et al, J Clin Invest 2020; Vallejo et al, Nat Comms 2017; Roman et al, Mol Cancer 2018; Roman et al, Cancer Res 2018) and will be carried out within the framework of the new Comprehensive Cancer Center of the University of Navarra (CCUN). The project will provide opportunities for interaction with other groups (internally, nationally, and internationally) as well as industry partners.
* This is a two-year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance and potentially extendable pending additional funding obtained by the group or the candidate.
Minimum Requirements
* PhD in Biological Sciences, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Computer Science with emphasis on applications in molecular biology.
* Experience working with high throughput sequence data.
* Background in single-cell RNAseq analysis is preferred, and research experience with gene regulatory network analysis, and advanced machine learning models will be valued positively.
* Self-motivated, resilient, autonomous person with teamwork and communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with different research groups (basic scientists, computational biologists, oncologists, industry).
* Initiative and willingness to lead the computational component of different projects, and to research new developments in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics in order to apply these methods to new data sets.
* Prepare and contribute to scientific manuscripts for publication in journals and conferences.
* At least one first-author publication in respected journals (excluding MDPI portfolio).
