Rack Decom Technician, Data Center Operations Amazon Web Services is looking for a Rack Decom Datatech to join our growing team.
The Rack Decom Datatech is responsible for processing and facilitating Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed off premises.
Team members will also process large volumes of customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and properly managed.
Team Members will be working in a team environment not only with other members of the team but also from other teams and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.
This is an entry-level position, and qualified candidates do not require intimate details of software operations or networking protocols.
Amazon Data Centers takes customer data with the utmost importance, and selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without variance and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensures customer data is protected and properly handled.
Key Job Responsibilities Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
Decommissioning and processing of hardware out of the data center facilities.
Rack move.
Unpacking/repacking fragile electronics.
Relocating and moving of large enterprise equipment.
Creating/attaching labels and barcodes.
Hard drive installation, removal, and destruction.
Basic Networking equipment removal/installation and clearing of configurations.
Sanitization of networking equipment.
Updating progress through a web ticketing system.
Reporting of processes and regular status updates.
Documenting procedures.
Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required.
Interact with third-party vendors & contractors.
Familiarity with basic PC components/hardware (HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media/Ram/CPU/Motherboard/Input-Output devices).
A Day in the Life In this role, you'll be working on our advanced ticketing system.
You'll be part of a collaborative team that keeps our cloud infrastructure running smoothly, responding to both automated directives and team leadership with exceptional time management and adaptability.
Your expertise in problem ticket tracking and escalation procedures will be crucial as you consistently meet and exceed Amazon's high standards for technical proficiency and operational excellence.
This role is vital in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our sophisticated data center infrastructure – you'll be working and supporting the face of Cloud technology in the region.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Passionate about IT infrastructure and hardware
Leaving Certificate(EM1).
18 years or older.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work 40 hours per week.
Must be able to work 10-hour shifts if needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift & rack equipment up to 20Kg; it may require working in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines.
* Familiarity with computer hardware components and operating systems.
* Ability to manage work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with Manager.
* Has taken STEM or vocational course curriculum.
