Position Overview:
We are looking for candidates based in or prepared to relocate to Ceuta, with occasional expectation to travel and allowance for spending time in Spain.
We are seeking a seasoned Head of AML to lead our AML operations in the Southern Markets region. This role is critical to ensuring that we remain compliant and maintain good working relationship with the AML regulator in Spain and other markets. The role involves setting the AML strategy up and acting in the operational capacity with active, day to day involvement in our AML operations, including customer case reviews and the submission of Suspicious Activity Reports.
The chosen candidate will be acting in the official capacity as the SEPBLAC Representative, involving registration with the Spanish AML Regulator (SEPBLAC), and other regulators as required. As part of the responsibilities, the candidate will also have to fulfil a role of a Company Director for two Spanish entities. As such, the successful candidate has to live and work in Ceuta – relocation packages available.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Oversight: Provide oversight of the AML and CTF programme in Spain and Southern markets. Ensure that AML risks are aligned with the evoke’s risk appetite and overall risk management framework.
* Governance and AML Risk Management: Lead the development of AML policies, procedures and processes. Maintain and proactively enhance our AML framework through a series of governance meetings, taking full ownership and responsibility for the robustness of our approach in Spain and other southern markets.
* Company Representation: Represent the company in front of SEPBLAC, DGOJ and other regulators as required. Act as a Company Director of two Spanish entities, and other companies, as required.
* Monitoring and Reporting: Develop a series of monitoring reports, including key risk indicators (KRIs) to continuously monitor AML risks and exposure of our Southern Markets. Present regular AML reports, including the annual MLRO Report, to senior management, risk committees, and the board, providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of AML risk controls.
* Second Line Review: Conduct independent reviews and audits of the 1LoD’s KYC and CDD operations in Spain and other southern markets. Ensure that our AML risk mitigation measures are implemented effectively and remain fit for purpose.
* Advisory and Challenge Role: Serve as a key advisor to the business on emerging AML risks, industry trends, and regulatory changes in Spain and other southern markets.
* Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with various teams, including Operations, Internal Audit, Group Assurance, Risk Management and external regulators, including SEPBLAC and DGOJ to ensure a coordinated approach to AML risk management.
* Regulatory Compliance and Assurance: Ensure that our AML frameworks align with all applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies. Provide independent assurance that AML-related risks are effectively mitigated and managed in accordance with regulatory expectations.
* Training and Awareness: Support the development and delivery of the AML training program for employees and key stakeholders, promoting a strong AML risk culture across the organisation.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
* Degree in AML/Compliance or relevant professional certification (CAMS, ICE) is preferred.
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience within an anti-money laundering role
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role
* Demonstrate knowledge of anti-money laundering laws, regulations, and best practices in Spain (mandatory) and other southern markets, such as Italy and Portugal (preferred).
* Strong leadership skills
* Ability to train, mentor, and guide other team members
* Excellent attention to detail
* Demonstrate ability to report and present findings in a succinct manner
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
* Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills, with the ability to present complex risk issues to senior management and the Board
* Strong understanding of the gambling industry, including regulatory requirements and operational risks (preferred but not required)
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
* Proficient in Spanish (required) and other languages, such as Portuguese, Italian (beneficial)
* Resident in Ceuta – it is required that you live and work in Ceuta or relocate to Ceuta as primary residence.
