Mission
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Data management: Develop solutions to ensure the appropriate implementation of standards and methodologies for data management in the Research department.
* Data accessibility: In collaboration with IT, Data Science, and experimental research teams, manage data according to the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles.
* Data Generation: Design assay-specific solutions with experimental researchers to enable the generation of data from a range of assays in the adequate format for automatic upload to the scientific data platform. Drive the incremental implementation of a new scientific data platform within Almirall R&D.
* Data Quality: Design assay-specific solutions with experimental researchers for data quality control and monitoring.
* Collaboration: Work closely with biologists, bioinformaticians, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and provide support for data-related tasks.
* Reporting and monitorization: Evaluate the data usage and report compliance and quality control metrics.
* Dissemination / Training: Provide training and support to team members on data management tools and best practices.
Education & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s with 10+ years of experience or Master’s with 5+ years of experience - degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, or Data Science.
* Experience in running wet laboratory experiments.
* Proven experience in data management in a biological research setting.
* Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles.
* Familiarity with data management tools and software (e.g., R or Python, data visualization tools). SQL knowledge would be a bonus.
* Team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across several scientific disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to biological data (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
* Knowledge of experimental biology techniques and protocols.
Values
* Care: we listen & empathize, we value diverse perspectives & backgrounds, and we help each other succeed.
* Courage: we challenge the status quo, we take full ownership, and we learn from our successes & failures.
* Innovation: we put the patient and customer at the center, we create novel solutions, and we empower entrepreneurial mindsets.
* Simplicity: we act decisively and avoid over-analysis, we understand why before we act, and we are agile & keep things simple.
