THE POSITION
MISSION
As a Clinical Informaticist, you will work with an interdisciplinary team to collaborate and produce solutions surrounding real world data. Leverage your clinical and domain knowledge to augment business analysis and provide feedback that includes clinical context and workflow in mind.
Bridge the gap between IT teams and a deep understanding of clinical practice with the delivery of healthcare services. Serve as a hybrid business analyst and clinical subject matter expert (including but not limited to areas such as clinical workflows, electronic health records, patient journey, clinical decision support, or digital health) with additional experience in data and analytics.
You will help data teams understand the context underlying the data and potential disconnects between the data and use cases or questions, particularly in the context of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and other applications of predictive analytics and machine learning.
WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON
You are an experienced clinical informaticist with extensive experience in the delivery of direct patient care, and the implementation and deployment of data and analytics solutions using patient data CDSS.
You will consult on a variety of topics such as clinical workflows, services, and solutions, and how to optimize their performance and increase utilization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Function as an evaluator, consultant, and educator to improve current systems and workflows surrounding data and analytics solutions such as clinical workflow optimization or clinical decision support systems.
2. Analysis, design, implementation, and optimization of clinical information systems (electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, registries).
3. Combine clinical knowledge, data, and analytics to support healthcare delivery.
4. Develop, maintain, and deploy clinical decision support systems (CDSS) that provide real-time guidance and alerts to clinicians.
5. Educate clinicians, staff, and other stakeholders on the effective use of clinical information systems and clinical decision support systems to improve patient care delivery and outcomes.
6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to clinical informatics, medical informatics, and data and analytics in healthcare delivery.
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT AND PARTNERING
Understand the complexities of RWD use cases from both business and IT/technical perspectives and develop a strategic approach to balance short-term benefits and long-term costs. Serve as an ambassador of clinical informatics and highlight the importance of clinical informatics to business stakeholders, IT business domains, and senior leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. BS or advanced degree in clinical care (RN, PA, NP, MD, etc.).
2. Clinical practice experience, preferably in cardiovascular disease, oncology, or neurology.
3. MS or PhD in clinical informatics (with a focus on data science, AI, or ML systems), or equivalent hands-on clinical informatics experience.
4. Experience with clinical workflow integrations and implementations of data/AI-based systems (CDSS).
5. Experience with healthcare data interoperability standards (FHIR) and terminologies (SNOMED).
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
7. Experience with and knowledge of patient privacy laws such as HIPAA and/or GDPR.
8. Experience with at least one form of real-world data (EHR, claims, registry, etc.).
9. Experience working with IT/technical development teams and able to translate between business needs and technical requirements.
10. Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercising discretion and independent judgment.
11. Ability to build collaboration and positive relationships in an agile, matrixed, multinational organization.
