Job Description
The Legal, Compliance and Audit (LCA) team at Verisk is seeking an experienced Legal Operations Manager with a primary emphasis on contract management and optimization. This role will be responsible for streamlining and enhancing Verisk’s sell-side contract lifecycle management processes. The best candidate for this position will combine operational excellence and technology to optimize the lifecycle, improve efficiencies, and ensure compliance. The Legal Operations Manager will work closely with internal teams, including Legal, Sales and Sales Operations, Product Management, Information Services & Technology (IS&T), and other departments, to continuously improve sell-side contracting operations and support Verisk’s business objectives.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Contract Lifecycle Management:
o Oversee the entire (sell-side) contract lifecycle and facilitate continuing efforts toward standardization, transparency and measurement of all contracts through each stage of the lifecycle.
o Evolve and manage contract management system(s) to track key contract data, deadlines, and obligations to prevent delays or missed deadlines. Ensure contracts are executed efficiently.
o Along with appropriate internal counterparts, facilitate the establishment of a contract administration “Center of Excellence.”
o Support and facilitate the regular review and maintenance of standardized contract templates and playbooks to ensure consistency and efficiency.
o Facilitate cross-departmental communications to address contractual issues and align expectations with relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with team members to identify and address contract-related risks and opportunities. Serve as the business contact and departmental representative for the sell-side contract lifecycle management system(s).
o Support contract audits to ensure compliance with internal policies, legal standards, business goals, and external regulations.
2. Process Improvement and Optimization:
o Continuously identify opportunities to streamline and automate contract processes. Develop and implement processes to improve contract workflow to ensure quick or optimal turnaround times while mitigating risk. Re-design complex workflows and develop simplified, elegant solutions keeping ease of use and user experience top of mind.
o Ideate and facilitate the streamlining of contract approvals, negotiations, and execution in an effort to reduce cycle times and best optimize the team’s productivity.
o Leverage technology to automate and digitize contract management, integrating systems and tools for optimal efficiency. Implement technologies and tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, measurement and reporting.
o Further Verisk’s contract performance metrics; continue to enhance what’s in place to measure the effectiveness of contract operations.
3. Contract Documentation & Reporting:
o Lead and ensure adherence to, and maintenance of, a comprehensive sell-side contract repository and knowledge base. Serve as a primary point of contact for accurate, organized records of sell-side contracts and contract-related documentation. As applicable, maintain inventories of system of records (SORs) for sell-side contract related data.
o Track and report on contract-related metrics to appropriate stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with business goals. Liaise with the Salesforce and PowerBI teams to maintain and enhance contracts related dashboards.
o Play a key role in the selection, implementation, and management of contract management software and tools.
o Stay ahead and informed on emerging technologies both in contract management as well as in legal operations. Assess and identify opportunities for improvement in contracting practices. Recommend solutions to further improve operational effectiveness.
o As needed or required, onboard and train team members on the use of contract management software and other relevant tools.
4. Knowledge Sharing & Training:
o As appropriate, provide support on training needs or requests to internal teams on contract management best practices, tools, legal requirements, and processes.
o As directed and as needed, provide mentorship, training, and/or management or leadership to fellow legal operations team members, as well as contract administrators and contract support analysts.
o Participate in the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of new team members.
o Support, facilitate and enhance knowledge management efforts through maintaining resources on the intranet, Sharepoint and Teams.

1. Bachelor’s degree and/or the following equivalent work experience:
2. 6+ years of legal operations or contract operations experience, ideally within a corporate or in-house legal department environment. Candidates with an excellent track record in project management and operations or lean six sigma space may also be considered; however, preference will be given to those with direct experience in legal or contract operations settings.
