Your Mission:
As Head of Energy Management you will play a crucial role in leading RIC Energy’s efforts to maximize the commercial value of its renewable energy projects. Your responsibilities will encompass the origination, negotiation, and closure of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Biomethane Purchase Agreements (BPAs), and participation in energy auctions, ensuring seamless execution in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a results-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and can align complex processes to deliver Lead the origination, structuring, and negotiation of PPAs for solar photovoltaic projects in Spain.
What will you do?
1. Offtake Structuring
* Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs):
* Lead the origination, structuring, and negotiation of PPAs for solar photovoltaic projects in Spain.
* Customize agreements to meet counterparty requirements while ensuring profitability, bankability and compliance with regulations.
* Engage with internal legal, financial, and development teams to address all contractual, financial and operational considerations.
* Biomethane Purchase Agreements (BPAs):
* Drive the structuring, negotiation, and closing of BPAs for biomethane projects near Ready-to-Build (RtB) stage.
* Manage the issuance of Proof of Sustainability (PoS) certificates in compliance with EU renewable energy standards and guidelines.
2. Energy Auction Strategy and Participation
* Develop and execute strategies for participation in energy and capacity auctions for renewable projects, including photovoltaic and energy storage asset in Spain, Italy and in South Africa (REIPP Programs).
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare competitive bids and pricing models aligned with market conditions.
* Stay informed on regulatory frameworks to maximize opportunities in Spain, Italy, South Africa and other target markets.
3. Execution of Binding Contracts
* Take ownership of the preparation, structuring, and execution of binding contracts resulting from PPA negotiations, BPA processes, or auction awards.
* Ensure timely and accurate collaboration with external stakeholders (buyers, aggregators, regulators and advisors) and internal teams (Legal, Finance, Business Development and Technical) to achieve seamless execution.
* Address and resolve any complexities or roadblocks during the contracting phase, ensuring clarity and alignment across all parties.
4. Cross-Functional Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as the central liaison between RIC Energy and external stakeholders, including energy buyers, utilities, and regulators.
* Provide clear guidance to internal teams to ensure project alignment with contractual and commercial objectives.
* Represent RIC Energy in key industry events, enhancing the company’s visibility and reputation in renewable energy markets.
What are we looking for?
* Bachelor’s degree in Energy, Engineering, Economics, or related fields (Master’s or MBA preferred).
* Minimum 8 years of experience in energy commercialization, contract negotiation, and renewable energy projects, especially in PV in Europe (South Africa is a plus).
* Demonstrated success in structuring and closing complex energy agreements, including PPAs and BPAs.
* Experience in energy auction participation and strategy.
* Knowledge of environmental certifications and reporting standards (e.G., PoS, Guarantees of Origin).
* Strong knowledge of energy markets and regulatory frameworks, especially in Europe (South Africa is a plus).
* Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
* Expertise in contract execution, energy pricing models, and project financing.
* Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in dynamic environments.
* Familiarity with renewable energy storage and green hydrogen commercialization.
* Fluency in Spanish and English;
additional languages are a plus.
