The Lead Buyer Casted Parts has a global responsibility for the subcommodity consisting in components produced by various casting technologies. The scope of the responsibility includes achievement of KPIs such as saving targets, strategic set-up of supplier panels and coordination of activities within and across different regions.
Your Contribution
* Develop & manage a long-term global commodity strategy with strong emphasis on cost management, maximizing global synergies and improving quality and delivery performance.
* Drive market analysis and benchmark activities (incl. RFQ & negotiations). Use in-depth product and process knowledge of supplier base, to define and implement material group strategies.
* Coordination and alignment of the creation of budgets, and forecast for the assigned commodities with the different affected BUs and regions.
* Prepare, support and conduct negotiations to achieve (or exceed) budget.
* Prepare, support and conduct negotiations on standard contracts (e.g. warranty agreement, master purchasing agreement, etc.).
* Lead a global commodity team with regional buyers in different regions.
* Being an interface to project buying in different business units including bidder list and sourcing decisions.
* Manage & enhance supplier performance, including regular supplier panel reviews, while adding/replacing suppliers as necessary. To develop countermeasures when necessary.
* Supplier and market observation in regard of risk management (shortages, financial situations, etc).
* Manage and drive escalated market situations like shortages, allocations, top quality issues, etc.
* Closely partner with affected R&D departments, plants and regional commodity buyers regarding strategy, supplier panel, new technologies & cost improvement projects for the assigned commodities.
* Accelerate standardization across regions, drive and manage cost improvement projects through implementation and escalate in case of unfavorable deviations.
Your Experience & Qualification
* Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial).
* Fluency in English at a business level. Spanish or other languages are a plus.
* Several years of purchasing experience in a Tier1 environment for commodities with an international purchasing approach.
* Successful history with consistent understanding and use of cost drivers and market dynamics in the assigned commodities.
* Strong negotiation, cost analysis, market analysis, continuous improvement, time and project management skills.
* Advanced problem-solving skills.
* Must be able to identify key issues & effectively coordinate efforts to achieve resolution cross-functionally & globally.
* Must have the ability to convince people.
* Proven ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines.
* Must be able to manage/lead multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
* Ability to relate & adapt to different cultures.
* Knowledge of logistics, manufacturing processes, commodity markets and a strong understanding of the assigned commodities.
