Zurich’s Guidewire team continues to drive the evolution of the Zurich core systems operating model aligned to the Group strategy, with the aim of ensuring that our technology proposition delivers a market differential for our business.
This position plays a crucial role in achieving our goals, reporting into the Group Head of Claim Delivery, and bringing a focus on Technical Excellence.
Your role
As a Core Systems and Zurich Guidewire Team Technical Program Director, your main responsibilities will involve:
1. Collaborate with internal partners to lead Zurich’s Guidewire team while developing and delivering our Target Operating Model. Focus will be on how we improve our capabilities while optimizing our SI footprint and keeping Intellectual Property in house.
2. Scope, define and mobilize strategic core systems programs to enhance insurance capabilities globally across our Guidewire footprint in a consistent manner.
3. Contribute to business strategy development, providing specialist guidance and support to the wider leadership team in the implementation of short, medium, and long-term objectives.
4. Take accountability for providing central expertise, support, and control for an organization’s technical projects-programs.
5. Define strategy and lead a successful implementation of high complexity projects of technical or Group programs.
6. Steer the development of best practices for technical program and project management and training or mentoring for project teams.
7. Enhance existing and develop new core business and organization capabilities that support the organization’s strategic goals and objectives and its customers or stakeholders to generate business value through new products and service offerings to the market.
8. Oversee monitoring activities regarding dependencies across multiple inter-related technical projects and keep an overview of technical project status and financial information.
9. Champion the management of the organization’s major technical projects or programs.
10. Train and mentor the next generation of Zurich’s finest.
11. Secure compliance with requirements to meet stakeholder needs and expectations, balancing the competing constraints of scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, and risk to produce the specified product, service, or result.
12. Ensure timely and appropriate planning, collection, creation, distribution, storage, retrieval, management, control, monitoring, and the ultimate disposition of project information to enable effective decision making and ensure successful project outcomes.
Your Skills and Experience
As a Core Systems and Zurich Guidewire Team Technical Program Director, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
1. Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or specialized certifications can be a plus.
2. 8+ years of experience in IT program management.
3. Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional).
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder management.
5. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
6. Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive decision-making.
7. Ability to execute a plan and drive a strategy.
