We are a leading Genetic Testing organisation listed in the London Stock Exchange seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team in Terrassa on a fulltime basis, with flexible working patterns available.
The Finance Controller is a key member of the Finance department, providing accounting support to the regional office of a UK listed predictive genetics business (GENinCode Plc). Key activities include general accounting duties, preparation of monthly management accounts, preparation of and conformance to internal control procedures, and working alongside the Finance Director (Spain) to ensure a robust finance function. The role is critical for improving existing accounting processes, supporting a rapidly growing business, and working to upgrade the existing accounting system, particularly the cost controlling, inventory management, and reporting modules, in order to improve management reporting and production of KPI’s. The Finance Controller will also work closely with other departments to ensure that the correct commercial policies and processes are in place and adhered to.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Reporting activities, including but not limited to prepare and implement:
a. To support monthly reporting analysis:
P&L, Balance and Cash flow – Carry forward.
b. Support Group and local operating plans and monthly reports.
Accountancy activities, including but not limited to:
a. Perform general ledger transaction processing in a timely and accurate manner.
b. To prepare month-end close according to company closing schedule.
c. Provide accurate and timely accounts reconciliations, including intercompany and general ledger.
d. Reconciliation of processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports.
e. Stock control and COGS recognition, looking at efficiencies and variance analysis.
f. Responsibility for preparation of tax documentation for filing;
liaison with both external Payroll provider and tax advisors.
Information Technology activities, including but not limited to:
a. Support module implementations at ERP (SAGE).
b. To implement and use the ERP automatic processes and “ad hoc” workflow information.
c. To implement a commercial CRM when it will be required.
Compliance activities, including but not limited to:
a. Streamlining financial and operating processes, to create a strong control environment from which the business is able to rapidly grow.
b. Support Annual accounts preparation and Audit.
c. Writing operating procedures.
Perform other duties as required by Finance Director (Spain).
To cooperate with all GENINCODE departments.
EDUCATION
* Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial controller role
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes, including Bill of Materials.
* Desirable:
Previous experience as auditor
