What You Will Do
As a Design Engineer at JCI, you will play a pivotal role in New Product Developments, collaborating within the Design team to manage and meet the design requirements for innovative products. You will engage with internal teams and coordinate with overseas engineering teams when necessary. Your responsibilities will include preparing comprehensive development design briefs, proactively identifying potential risks and impacts, and crafting effective design solutions that align with our product goals.
Location: Vacarisses Plant, Barcelona
How You Will Do It
* Lead design engineering initiatives for new product developments, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
* Conduct thorough analyses and propose innovative design solutions that enhance product functionality and manufacturability.
* Define and manage schedules, action plans, and project documentation to align with development requirements.
* Act as the primary contact for cross-departmental communications, addressing improvement suggestions and requirements from other teams.
* Support the quality assurance of newly created materials, including 3D and 2D drawings, BOM information, and operational documentation.
* Participate actively in the sourcing and evaluation of new components, assessing potential suppliers and alternative part solutions for application in design.
* Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production processes, enhancing manufacturability and reducing costs.
* Implement Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles to streamline production and improve product assembly efficiency.
* Conduct regular reviews and updates to design specifications to reflect manufacturing capabilities and compliance with industry standards.
* Facilitate collaboration between design engineers and production staff to troubleshoot and resolve any fabrication issues that arise during manufacturing.
What We Are Looking For
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
* Proficient in CAD software; MATLAB will be a plus.
* Exceptional creativity and problem-solving skills, with a drive for innovation.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
* Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
* Strong verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of SAP is highly desirable.
