What to Expect
We are recruiting for a Driveability Calibration Engineer to join our Dynamics team in Idiada, Spain. As the Driveability Calibration Engineer, you will be leading the definition, development, and validation of Driveability programs for McLaren vehicles. It includes defining, planning, testing, tuning, and validating the driveability calibration to meet high-level vehicle characteristics targets. Additionally, you are responsible for managing the budget and plan, as well as having technical responsibility for delivering the vehicle attributes.
What You'll Do
* Responsible for the development of engine, gearbox and hybrid calibrations for a specific McLaren application.
* Leading the integration of the software development for driveability functions between the different contributors.
* Defining the future driveability features and develop them from to scratch to production.
* Improving the architecture interface between engine and gearbox.
* Working in close collaboration with the Powertrain and Vehicle development departments
* Modelling and simulating “virtual” vehicle to ensure targets and correctly defined and hardware and software specification can deliver them.
* Defining and carrying out vehicle testing plan to tune/calibrate driveability systems on the vehicle.
* Defining and leading all tuning activities related to the above-mentioned systems.
* Understanding and resolving issues that arise during development process.
* Tracking and reporting on vehicle project status.
* Coordinating and managing integration in multi-department activities that affect the Dynamics attribute.
* Supporting travelling for high level meetings, program updates and testing as required.
* Defining, developing and completing Data logging, Calibration, Objective maneuvers and subjective vehicle evaluation.
What You'll Bring
* Proven record of defining, developing, and delivering driveability attribute for other OEM. Minimum 5 years of appropriate automotive product development experience
* Excellent knowledge of IC engines, hybrid systems and dual clutch transmission technologies. Proven record of having previously delivered a complete program within the industry.
* Excellent comprehension of control strategies for internal combustion engine, transmission, electric motor, or any hydraulic systems
* Good level of knowledge of the Etas, Vector, MathWorks software like Inca, Canape, Matlab Simulink
* Specific knowledge of base mapping calibration of IC turbo engines and Bosch methodology and control strategies is advantageous.
* Strong interpersonal and team-working skills, as well as a high affinity for tracking supplier and delivering first-quality products
* Proven records of managing automotive or motorsport testing plans.
* Good knowledge of validation, verification and testing process.
* Good knowledge of data logging and calibration systems.
* Good knowledge of objective maneuvers driving and subjective vehicle evaluation.
* Model based controls application/development would be positively considered.
* Mechanical, Electronics, Physics or Automotive Engineering Degree
* Master or PHD in Physics or Engineering will be advantageous
* High competency in oral and written English language
