A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a fashion designer to join our friendly Barcelona team.
Reports to: Design Director
Role Overview: This is a full-time Designer internship based in Barcelona. We are looking for a Womenswear Designer, working within our women's design team, focusing on developing graphics and prints for womenswear garments from concept stage to production, working across multi-product categories.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Research current and future trends for products to drive newness while keeping to the womenswear handwriting.
2. Create mood boards and share ideas with the rest of the team.
3. Design commercially relevant products.
4. Work closely with the wider womenswear design team to ensure an efficient workflow of designs and sample production.
5. Draw influences from a wide range of sources, including Instagram micro trends, seasonal global trends, catwalks, and research trips.
6. Keep up to date with relevant trends and present findings back to the Design Director.
7. Work with the Design Director to ensure technical packs are sent out on time.
8. Assist in technical fits with the pattern team, writing notes throughout these meetings to share with your team.
9. Collate design packs which will then be sent out to suppliers on a weekly basis.
10. Chase samples with suppliers and communicate with them when needed.
11. Organize multi deadlines and ensure that all administrative tasks are completed to support the team's day-to-day running.
12. Regularly arrange fabrics for the design department and ensure products are ready for any meetings where rack ups are required.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Currently pursuing a degree in Design, Textile, or a related field.
2. Recent graduates are also welcome to apply.
3. Enrolled as a full-time student for the entire duration of the internship (3 months to 1 year).
4. Or in the so-called gap year between Bachelor's and Master's degrees (gap year regulation only applies to EU citizens due to work permit regulation).
5. Computer Skills: Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD.
6. Ability to work across a variety of mediums - creating .psd or .ai artworks from photos, stock images, etc.
7. Strong commercial handwriting and understanding of the Womenswear customer.
8. Fashion forward-thinking and directional trend print eye.
9. Brilliant time management and resilience, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-moving and reactive business with multiple deadlines.
10. Ability to communicate confidently, effectively, and appropriately with colleagues, suppliers, wider team & senior management.
11. Good personal handwriting and the ability to be versatile and adapt to a variety of styles. Evidence of this in portfolio is essential.
12. Have an excellent eye for detail and color.
