Role Overview:
The Fund Placement Manager will be responsible for managing fundraising mandates, developing institutional investor relationships, and providing strategic advisory services to private market fund managers. The role requires strong capital-raising experience, in-depth knowledge of private markets, and the ability to execute fundraising campaigns efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage fundraising mandates for private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real estate funds.
2. Oversee investor outreach, pitch execution, and capital commitment processes.
3. Manage and track investor engagement from first contact through to final close.
Investor Relations & Business Development
1. Expand and maintain relationships with institutional investors, including pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, and family offices.
2. Provide market intelligence on investor appetite, fund structures, and competitive landscape.
3. Facilitate investor due diligence processes, including data room management and Q&A coordination.
Strategic Fund Advisory
1. Advise fund managers on fund positioning, structuring, and investor targeting.
2. Assist in the preparation of investor presentations, private placement memoranda (PPMs), and due diligence materials.
3. Support General Partners (GPs) in refining their capital-raising strategy and navigating complex fundraising environments.
Marketing & Roadshow Coordination
1. Organize investor roadshows, one-on-one meetings, and virtual presentations.
2. Develop tailored investor engagement strategies and execute targeted fundraising campaigns.
3. Prepare investor briefing documents and reports.
4. Track fundraising trends, institutional investor allocations, and regulatory developments in private markets.
5. Conduct competitive benchmarking and analyze fund terms & conditions.
6. Monitor investor activity and capital flow across geographies and asset classes.
Key Requirements
Experience & Background
1. Minimum 5+ years experience in fund placement, investor relations, private equity fundraising, or institutional capital raising.
2. Strong institutional investor network and demonstrable track record in capital raising.
3. Previous experience with a placement agent, private equity firm, investment bank, or asset manager is highly desirable.
Technical & Market Knowledge
1. Deep understanding of private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real estate investment strategies.
2. Strong knowledge of fund structures, LP dynamics, secondary transactions, and co-investments.
3. Familiarity with legal, tax, and regulatory aspects of fund structuring and investor agreements.
4. Relationship Management: Proven ability to engage and influence institutional investors.
5. Analytical Thinking: Strong financial analysis and market research capabilities.
6. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple fundraising projects simultaneously.
7. Communication & Negotiation: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
8. Technology Proficiency: Experience with CRM systems, investor databases, and financial modeling tools.
Education & Certifications
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
2. CFA, CAIA, or MBA is a plus.
