I2CAT Foundation is looking for a Data Engineer Consultant with at least 5 years of experience in technology and business innovation projects to join its "Data Spaces" team, a holistic group of 6 additional colleagues.
Data Spaces represent a new European approach that promotes B2B/G2B collaboration between organizations through a set of reference architectures, standards, and protocols that ensure secure and sovereign data exchange. This is the future of European data ecosystems and services.
Main Responsibilities:
* Working with clients and partners in the public and private sectors across various verticals (mobility, industry, digital health) to define technological solutions to their challenges in secure data exchange within B2B and G2B ecosystems.
* Providing in-depth technical advice on clients' and partners' data platforms and services to determine how they can expand their solutions to participate in data space ecosystems and understand how to implement these European standards and components across a variety of proprietary platforms and infrastructures.
* This includes leading various activities in collaboration with clients and partners to:
- Identify technical challenges
- Define the requirements to address these challenges, unique to the client’s or partner's data platform and services
- Design solutions to be implemented by the technical team
- Coordinate technical support with clients and partners who implement, configure, and use these solutions.
* Participating in the search for and development of new opportunities with colleagues from the business development department for new projects in the public and private sectors.
* Participating in sectoral clusters, forums, and events to help companies and public administrations understand the scope and benefits of these data exchange technologies and standards.

No prior experience with these technologies is required. During the onboarding process, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with these technologies with the help of colleagues and technical leaders of the team.

Where will you do it?
At i2CAT we already have an established ‘work-from-home’ policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We expect that you attend the office one day per week to stay connected with your team and to engage with other colleagues.
If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well-connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Requirements
* 5+ years of professional experience as a technical consultant or similar roles in data systems engineering and design (e.g., Big Data, Data Engineering)
* Experience working directly with clients (businesses and/or public administrations) without an intermediary interface
* Education/training in data engineering or computer science
* Native Catalan and Spanish + professional level English
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both technical and business profiles
* Creativity, motivation, and responsibility in performing the described functions
Nice to have:
* Master's degree in Data Engineering or a related field in computer science
