Role Overview
We’re seeking a Junior Musicologist and Data Curator to manage and enrich our music catalog, metadata, and music editing flows. You’ll work with our transcription, operations, and technical teams to ensure accurate classification and annotation of our musical works.
Key Responsibilities
Cataloging and metadata management
1. Organize musical works with consistent classification across genres, styles, and forms
2. Maintain detailed metadata (composer, era, instrumentation, key, time signature, etc.)
3. Handle various music formats (MUSX, SIB, MSCZ, GP, MIDI, XML, CSV, JSON)
Music notation and editing
1. Review scores using notation software (Sibelius, Finale, Dorico, MuseScore, etc.)
2. Transpose and modify editions following professional standards
3. Extract parts from scores with attention to notation standards and layout
4. Convert between digital formats and sync MIDI files with audio
Quality Assurance & Collaboration
1. Verify metadata accuracy against authoritative sources
2. Work with the Lead Music Editor and team to enhance cataloging tools
3. Assist in creating tutorial videos using company applications
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Musicology, Music Theory, Music Technology, or a related field.
2. Cataloging/music curation experience preferred
Technical Skills
1. Proficiency in music notation software
2. Experience with data formats (CSV, TXT, JSON)
3. Basic DAW knowledge (Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton) is a plus
Musical Expertise
1. Strong music theory background
2. 6+ years playing musical instrument
Essential Skills
1. Exceptional organization and attention to detail
2. Team-oriented with strong time management
3. Advanced English and Spanish/Catalan proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
1. Music Information Retrieval (MIR) knowledge
2. Experience with notation software plugins
3. Passion for music technology
