ABOUT THE ROLE
The Data Engineer will work on the data team to design, build, maintain, and optimize the data pipelines, data models, and warehousing solutions that power our analytics and data science initiatives. This role will focus on creating robust and scalable data ingestion processes, implementing efficient data transformations, managing our data warehouse, and ensuring data quality and reliability.
This role is crucial for ensuring the availability, reliability, and quality of data, allowing the data team (such as data / BI analysts and data scientists) to focus on analysis and insights. By building and maintaining robust data pipelines and well-structured data models, the Data Engineer helps the team meet key business objectives with accurate and timely data.

Key Processes, Systems, and Tools:
* Python, Go and SQL as our core languages for our pipelines, analytics and data science
* GCP for our cloud infrastructure
* BigQuery for Data Warehousing
* dbt for Data Transformation
* Pub / Sub and GoldenGate for capturing events and change data
* Apache Airflow for Data Orchestration
* Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
* Linux as our server-OS of choice
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
* Reliability and performance of data pipelines
* Data quality and accuracy metrics
* Timeliness of data availability for downstream consumers
* Efficiency and scalability of data models and transformations
* Successful delivery of new data pipelines and features
* Successfully design, build, and deploy new data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Airflow, dbt, and BigQuery.
* Contribute to the improvement and optimization of existing data models and ETL / ELT processes.
* Implement data quality checks and monitoring for critical data pipelines.
* Collaborate with analysts and scientists to understand data needs and deliver required datasets.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOU
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
* 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
* Strong programming skills in Python for data processing and automation.
* Strong proficiency with SQL for complex data analysis and manipulation.
* English at an advanced level (required)
* Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions, preferably BigQuery
* Hands-on experience with ETL / ELT pipeline development and orchestration (e.g., Airflow, dbt)
* Familiarity with data modeling concepts and managing DDL changes
* Proficiency with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) or other major public clouds.
* Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
* Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
Nice to have:
* Experience with Terraform for infrastructure management.
* Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau)
* Understanding of data governance and security principles
* Knowledge of building event-based and streaming systems (e.g. Kafka, Pub / Sub etc.)
* Knowledge of Go
* Experience with Linux system administration.
* Certifications for Terraform GCP, or other cloud / Infrastructure-as-Code
Soft Skills:
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams in an agile environment
* Strong communication skills to convey technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
* Proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues.
* Willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
