Procurement Specialist

We are looking for an experienced professional to join us in our Center in Sant Cugat del Valles.
This position executes and supports the global sourcing strategy for multiple finished goods & direct categories in the EMEA region.
This role involves analyzing market and spend data, developing and implementing strategic cost-saving initiatives, and negotiating contracts. The Procurement Specialist contributes to optimizing procurement processes, supplier sourcing, risk and performance management, as well as supplier relationship management, to achieve Kennametal's objectives in terms of delivery, quality, and cost.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Primarily manages one of a Finished Goods category with a focus mainly on cutting tools for the EMEA region.
2. Collaborate with Global Category Management to align regional needs with the global strategy.
3. Source and on-board new suppliers in line with commodity strategy.
4. Manage regional projects in alignment with Global Commodity Manager, lead commercial negotiations and continuously search for new ways to optimize the procurement costs.
5. Cooperate with suppliers and internal stakeholders (local and global), build and develop strong and mutually beneficial partnerships to fulfill the overall procurement targets within cost optimization, increasing value and contractual compliance.
6. Monitor overall QDC Performance of the regional commodity and drive improvement actions when required.
7. Drive the annual Business Review Meetings with key suppliers, in alignment with Global Commodity Manager.
8. Support Operations according to escalation process. Jointly with Global Commodity Manager, act as a liaison between the manufacturing sites within the businesses and the Sourcing organization, ensuring that the sourcing and manufacturing strategies are mutually aligned and supportive.
9. Partner with the Global Sourcing Functional Excellence Team and other functions as required to ensure that defined best practices & designated tools and procedures are comprehensively deployed across the region and that sourcing projects are executed.
Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering) or equivalent education.
2. Have experience in an industrial environment and technical knowledge on the level allowing buying efficiently machined parts. Experience in metal cutting business is not compulsory but is preferred.
3. Proven track record within strategic procurement.
4. Good understanding of supplier’s market, main cost drivers, technology trends and risk factors.
5. Motivated by leading negotiations. Goal-oriented and proactive. Strong communication skills.
6. Business Acumen - driven by entrepreneurship. Able to set priorities and establish priorities.
7. Business Performance Measurement - ability to understand internal business processes, external market segments, establish strategic direction and business objectives, and gain alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.
8. Customer Relationship Management - understands organization of internal customer groups, key users and characteristics of these customers. Drives to understand customer requirements and uses this information as an input to create effective strategies and reach timely decisions to foster mutually beneficial customer relationships.
9. Data Management - skilled in analytics; able to maintain key data, leverage raw data to organize and prioritize information for decision making.
10. Willingness to travel approx. 20% of the time to suppliers and company facilities across EMEA.
11. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and SAP S3 or S/4HANA.
12. Have excellent English communication skills. Knowledge of German and/or French will be an advantage.
