Our Core Betting Platform department is currently looking for a Head of Product Engineering to oversee and manage a group of products within the company's portfolio, managing multiple Product Development teams as well as any additional functions required by their products. This position requires excellent leadership and communication skills, as this role involves managing multiple engineering and product managers as well as software architects, who are located in offices across Europe.
The Head of Product Engineering will work closely with cross-functional teams and with the wider organisation, including engineering, design, and business relationship management, to drive the end-to-end product delivery process. The Core Sports Betting Platform is the group of systems responsible for the placement and settlement of Sports bets in our Sports Platform, linking them to the Sports Offer and Promotions while managing Account transactions.
Key Deliverables:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive product portfolio strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's overall business objectives.
2. Oversee and manage a team of Product Managers, Software Engineering Managers and Architects, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their success in managing individual product lines and development teams.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of product development, marketing, and business relationship management efforts.
4. Drive the strategic direction of the products in line with the overall company and product strategy; including the product vision, system architecture, development and delivery processes, version control, quality assurance.
5. Identify industry and technology trends that may support or impede the success of the products you are responsible for.
6. Responsible and accountable for the security and quality of all released software.
7. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams, to gather feedback and ensure product offerings meet market needs.
8. Develop and monitor key performance metrics for the product portfolio, identifying areas for improvement and driving initiatives to achieve targets.
9. Manage the end-to-end product development process, from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software products.
10. Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the product portfolio, identifying opportunities to enhance existing products or develop new offerings.
11. Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics, leveraging this knowledge to build a strong product strategy.
12. Ensure effective communication of product roadmap, progress, and updates to relevant stakeholders, both internally and externally.
13. Manage the allocation of resources, including budgets and personnel, to support the successful delivery of product objectives.
14. Identify, escalate and resolve project risks.
15. Effectively allocates appropriate resources to work items in order to deliver the product roadmap.
16. Conducts performance appraisals of department members.
17. Monitors performance of team members on an ongoing basis and takes effective steps to deal with non-performance.
18. Oversees all aspects of the team by facilitating and resolving issues, through effective problem solving and communication skills.
19. Determines most effective and efficient software design to meet the product requirements.
Technical Competencies, Knowledge Experience:
1. 7 years of software development experience.
2. 3 years senior leadership experience within software development/Product organisation.
3. 3 years’ experience in gaming industry preferable.
4. Minimum 5 years of domain experience gained within the relevant area/discipline.
5. Strong analytical and commercial experience.
6. You are a strong people manager with demonstrable skills and experience of managing large teams and a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
7. You possess an application development background and have a deep understanding of scalable systems.
8. Experience of managing multiple software development teams in complex environments.
9. You possess strong negotiation and coaching skills.
10. You have built systems in high level programming languages such as Java, C# or Go.
11. You have some cloud infrastructure experience e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP or similar.
12. You can influence others by creating a participative, empowered environment and can create high performance environments for teams, empowering both teams and individuals.
13. You can manage high performance in a fast-paced environment and can deal with stressful situations in a calm and effective manner.
14. You are focused on the realization of objectives and can set and achieve ambitious goals.
