Reference : 2024-061-01
Number of vacancies : 1
About us :
The Cancer Cell Cycle Group led by Dr. Marcos Malumbres at Vall Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) is growing. We are seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher with experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology as well as Cancer Research to apply for postdoctoral fellowships.
Our lab focuses on the basic mechanisms that control cell differentiation and proliferation, and their implications in pathology. We are interested in deciphering the mechanisms that drive tumour cell proliferation, with a patient-focused perspective, and the therapeutic opportunities of inhibiting the activity of critical cell cycle regulators in cancer.
Tasks :
* Develop a project exploring CDKs as new targeted therapies in cancer.
* Design and develop experiments using genome engineering technologies in in vitro and in vivo models of breast, colorectal, lung, and endometrial cancer. Analyse experimental data and interpret findings to understand the mechanisms underlying resistance to treatment with CDK inhibitors.
* Interact closely with both wet lab and computational scientists from the group.
* Serve as a senior member of the team and, down the road, co-supervisor of PhD students or technical staff.
* Present research findings at conferences and contribute to scientific publications.
Professional experience
Must Have :
* The candidate must hold a PhD, preferably in Cell & Molecular Biology or Oncology.
* Previous experience and advanced skills in some of the following: culture of mammalian cells and organoids, generation of patient-derived models, liquid biopsy and circulating tumor cells.
