We are looking for a temporary senior accountant to strengthen our team. The senior accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supports the preparation of financial statements and contributes to compliance with local accounting standards and corporate guidelines. He or she will also provide guidance to (junior) accountants and plays a critical role in process improvement and reporting.
Your role and responsibilities
* Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with local accounting standards and corporate policies.
* Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and internal controls.
* Support audits (internal and external) by providing accurate and timely information.
* Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
* Monitor journal entries and assist in maintaining accurate financial records.
* Perform periodic reviews of account balances and ensure accuracy.
* Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
* Analyze variances between actual results and budgets, providing explanations and recommendations for corrective actions.
* Act as a mentor and technical resource for accountants, ensuring best practices are followed.
* Support the Chief Accountant by delegating tasks and overseeing junior team members.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes.
* Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes.
* Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and tools.
* Contribute to the development and documentation of standard operating procedures.
How to succeed / Your profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or equivalent is a plus).
* Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a supervisory role.
* Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) are advantageous.
* Experience in a multinational or corporate environment is preferred.
* In-depth knowledge of local GAAP, IFRS, and taxation principles.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both Turkish and English.
* Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
