Engineering/Facilities Assistant Manager
Grand Hyatt Barcelona is seeking a passionate, hands-on Engineering Assistant Manager. This role will assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring the efficient and economic operation of the Engineering Department in support of all other operating Departments, supplying services as required to the entire operation, and maintaining equipment, building, and grounds in optimum condition ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency while growing and developing within the hotel industry.
The Engineering Assistant Manager will supervise and oversee the building's mechanical equipment as well as the engineering staff. The overall responsibility for managing engineering operations and coordinating with the Senior Managers all hotel needs and functions under the direct supervision and instructions of the Area Director of Engineering and Hotel General Manager.
What you will do as an Assistant Engineering Manager:
* Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times
* Deal promptly and efficiently with guest complaints and needs
* Have a thorough knowledge of emergency and safety procedures
* Respond to all emergencies and be prepared to assist
* Responsible for ordering supplies, tools, and equipment and maintaining proper par levels to corporate department standards
* This role will support, maintain, and implement the department's Back of the House preventive maintenance program
* Will be required to represent and support the Engineering Manager in his absence confidently on all levels to ownership, corporate executive leadership, contractors, or other department heads
* Maintain the PM program for the entire hotel
* Drive initiatives for energy efficiency and sustainability
* Perform maintenance checks of equipment and logs properly
* Attend Daily Operations Meetings
* Directly supervise the Engineering Crews
* Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all workspaces, shops, and storage areas
Physical Demands:
* Requires ability to perform the following: carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds
* Frequently stand up and move about the facility, handle objects and equipment to maintain it, and constantly bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and crawl
* May work in noisy environments, hot or cold temperatures, and confined spaces. This job may require working from heights higher than 4 feet and working off ladders
Qualifications:

* Education: College Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and/or Building Management or advanced technical vocational training is preferred
* Technical knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration systems, fire main systems, sprinklers, water/waste treatment or hydraulics will be an advantage
* Possesses the ability to troubleshoot effectively
* Experience: A minimum of 2+ years in a hotel in a similar role is required
* Good problem-solving, administrative, and interpersonal skills are a must
* Knowledge in preventive maintenance program and special projects will be valuable
* Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
