Who are we looking for: For our Spanish branch, headquartered in Barcelona, we are currently looking for a General Counsel (m/f/d - Legal & Compliance Director). As the General Counsel, you will be the primary point of contact for local and corporate teams on all legal and compliance matters. You will lead the Legal & Compliance team, which includes two direct reports (a Compliance Manager and a Legal Manager), each overseeing their respective teams. Reporting Structure: You will report hierarchically to the General Manager of Amplifon/GAES for Spain (Luca Bradaschia) and functionally to the Global Chief Legal Officer (Federico Dal Poz).
Your tasks:
1. Data Protection and GDPR: Leading the implementation, deployment, and monitoring of data management procedures to ensure compliance with Spanish and EU data protection regulations. Privacy and GDPR compliance will be a central focus of your role, given its critical importance.
2. Internal Audit & Compliance: Overseeing the internal audit processes, including the prevention, detection, and control of risks. Ensure that all internal protocols and policies are up to date and aligned with corporate governance requirements.
3. Corporate Governance: Guiding and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards within the organization. You will play a key role in shaping and maintaining a robust compliance culture.
4. Legal Management: Managing and providing guidance on a broad range of legal issues including commercial law, consumer law, and intellectual property. Overseeing the management of litigation, legal disputes, and negotiations related to these areas.
5. Mergers & Acquisitions: While M&A is a secondary priority, you will still support and advise the M&A team on acquisitions and high stakes projects when necessary, particularly in due diligence and post-transaction integration.
6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that the company adheres to relevant regulations, including those specific to the medical device sector, marketing, advertising, and competition law.
7. Team Leadership: Leading the Legal & Compliance team, providing direction and development opportunities for your direct reports and their teams. This includes managing their workload, professional growth, and ensuring a high standard of legal and compliance services.
8. Training & Development: Conducting training for operational staff on legal and compliance matters to foster a culture of compliance and ensure that all employees understand the legal framework within which they operate.
What you'll need:
1. Qualifications: You have completed your bachelor's degree in law, and are a fully qualified lawyer to work in Spain.
2. At least 10 years of experience of post qualified legal experience a top-tier law firm or as in-house counsel for a multinational corporation.
3. Expertise in Data Protection: In-depth knowledge of Spanish and EU data protection laws (GDPR) is crucial for this role.
4. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop a team, with strong organizational and management skills.
5. Language Skills: Proficiency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with local and international teams.
